“Pleasant Surprise”
Reviewed 29 February 2012

From the moment I walked in and saw the decor and space, my trip was made! The linen was oh so soft and the bed was comfy cozy. I was very pleased with the pleasant demeanor of the entire staff and look forward to my next stay here! Close proximity to Times Square, Restaurant Row and Broadway, the 3 reasons I was IN NYC!

Just back from this hotel and yes it is in a great location but the staff need to be sorted out. They didnt even try to speak to you and in terms of them being helpful well forget it. Rooms where spaceious and very clean all in all average but could be fantastic if the trained the people who work there.

I've never stayed in Intercontinental. Was looking forward. We came with large group (20 people) for surprise birthday party. upon check-in we were greeted with rude and unhelpful man. We asked for higher floor and were summarily dismissed. Apparently, if you say "sir" enough - they are allowed to be rude. We were, however, offered an 11th floor room with 100 sq ft more for an extra $300! The room is acceptable at best. The coffee only has mugs so you cant make a coffee and go walk around the City. We asked for paper/plastic cups. That was greeted with eye rolling from staff! We were travelling with 7 week old baby. We called in morn and asked for late check out. Was "transferred" to appropriate person - only to be made to wait for ten minutes on hold listening to music. We knew they werent sold out so an extra hour or two would have been helpful. The attitude was remarkable. Finally - they did us a huge "favour" and allowed us check out until 1 pm instead of noon! Upon leaving with stroller and 2 suitcases - none o fthe staff could be bothered to assist. Our brand new stroller got crushed in their ridiculous front revolving door. We looked for help and finally one of their bellboys slowly sauntered over while we were tugging at stroller to free it. This cannot be a 4.5 - 5 star hotel. The service/attitude was horrrendous. The rooms were tiny (smaller than average NYC room). All in all - i can think of atleast 7-8 nicer, friendlier hotels in NYC than here. The stay was unpleasant due to staff and their inability to be helpful or nice.

We stayed here for 3 nights in New York and wanted a hotel central to all tourist attractions. The metro stop was right outside the hotel so conveinient to get about in new york even in the snow.
Concierge were truely helpful and an asset to the hotel. They will book shows for you, find you restaurants and provide you all the general information with maps for your stay in NY. Best to ask them rather than reception staff as they are alot faster at delivering information.
The rooms were clean and restful. We had 2 double beds but a small sized window which overlooked a parking lot in the side street. I did ask in advance for a room high up with good city views but we ended up on the 6th floor instead. I did wander who occupied the other 20 odd floors??
The only downside is this hotel charges like most others in NY for Wifi use. You can connect to most Wifi's at local cafe's and restaurants for free on your phone.
Tip: We didn't have breakfast here. Go out in Times Sqaure and choose one of the local diners and brasseries to eat in. We found this quaint little french one 2 blocks away which had the most exquisite breakfast menu.
Overall, nice hotel, clean rooms good ensuite facilities (with a sliding door-no lock). Definately worth a return visit.

Room Tip: Tip: Ask for a room high up with city views-and make sure it is higher than 6th floor

Had a perfect stay. Booked King Bed Deluxe Corner Room ($499 night) received upgrade to panoramic 21st floor King Bed Sky view Avenue Studio ($799 night) looking East over 8th Ave.

Sky view Avenue Studio. Terrific city view and a bit of the Hudson to the North W and gives you that NYC feeling. Style and comfort of furnishings we luxurious. King Bed one of the most comfortable I’ve experienced anywhere. 100% clean room. Turn down service is a nice touch. Heavy glass and thick sound deadening window covers keep most of the noise out.

Location. Facility makes an excellent impression with a sophisticated atmosphere. Nice to stay at a new facility and all interaction with staff was friendly and professional and one fellow even refused a tip. Subway lines at IC + Times Square. Steps to Theaters, 3 min walk to Times Square, 20 min to Central Park. Hassle free check-in/valet parking/check-out. Never used restaurant/bar but only because busy off site. Menu looks good, pricy but it should be. Concierge very helpful. Valet parking $58 w/tax per day no in/out

Area. Some portions of the area had a Carnival vibe but it is Times Square after all. Area is saturated with Police and felt more patrolled than DC. Appears safer than many cities but you still need to keep you’re guard up.

Enjoyable stay with no issues. Probably only place I’ll stay in NYC if only for a clean, central location.....all the other niceties are a bonus.

Room Tip: Email/Call ahead for any special requests. If you want the quiets rooms book facing the river. If yo...
