It is my second visit to NYC and I was a little aprehensive about this hotel as to its location.
Decided to book it because it had so much to offer for the price.
I was pleasantly surprised on the service, cleaniness and overall experience. The staff is amazing, the rooms are clean and considering on the small side, it is well put together with all
space being used. The only negative thing I have to say is that there was no place to put your
luggage. The last day of our stay, we missed the breakfast and when we went to the dining
area, they were more than willing to go to the kitchen and get us some food for us to have and
take with us. All the staff is wonderful and thank you Nicole for your great service in the restaurant. We were on the 27th floor and the elevator was right in front of our door, but we had no issue with noise. As far as the location, yes it is facing the bus terminal and not on the
prettiest street but value and staff certainly make up for that and the location is perfectly centered . I will certainly go back to this hotel.

I always try to stay here when I am in NYC. They have a pantry, fridge microwave and stove top in the rooms. Free wifi. Always like staying here minutes from time square and places to eat.

Room Tip: Higher floors give you a glimpse of the lights that lead down the road to time square. That's if you reserve a room with a view. Rooms are well lit and fresh

We just returned from a 2 night stay in NYC at the Staybridge Hotel. We arrived at about 10:00 am. Our room wasn't ready, but they were happy to check us in and hold our luggage. They also called us when our room was ready. We stayed in a king suite and found the room to be clean and well appointed and was pretty roomy for New York. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the TV when we first tried it. I called the front desk and they sent up Raul. He was there less then 5 minute after I called. Although the issue was us, not the TV, he was terrific. Thanks Raul, you are the best! Every night when we came back from exploring the city, we were always greeted with smiles and friendly "hellos" from the entire staff as well as every morning when we came down for breakfast.

Breakfast in the morning was very good. A good variety of hot and cold selections. Seating was an issue, but then they opened up the bar area for additional seating. The location was very good and just a few minute walk to Times Square. The neighborhood wasn't bad. As with any big city, the usual precautions should be taken, but we didn't have any issues. The Port Authority Bus Terminal is right across the street. If you walk to the 8th Ave. entrance of the Bus Terminal, there is a Duane & Reade (open 24/7) for snacks and sundries and quite a few restaurants (fast food and sit down). There is also a cab line at this entrance. Much easier than trying to get a cab in front of the hotel.

The only negative was the elevators. Saturday and Sunday weren't too bad. Only a few minute wait. When we left on Monday morning at 9:00 we waited 26 minutes (yes, we timed it) for an elevator from the 19th floor. Other than that, this was a terrific hotel in a good location with an outstanding staff. We would definatley stay here again.

We stayed for three nights for a family Spring Break trip, April 10-13, 2012. This hotel has it all and at a very reasonable (for NYC) price! It is super clean, well-kept and comfortable with terrific staff - especially loved Nicholas and Daniel, who were so helpful right from the start!! Every time we asked for directions or recommendations of where to go, we received an enthusiastic and prompt response. When we needed a taxi, it was quickly hailed for us and our bags loaded for us.

Our room was not ready when we checked in around noon when our train arrived. They quickly and efficiently wisked our bags away to tag and store, led us to restroom facilities and moved us on our way to begin exploring the city! When we returned at 5:00, our room was ready, bags quickly gotten for us and we headed to our room.

The rooms are not spacious (nothing in NYC is!), but very accomodating with free high speed internet, a large refrigerator/freezer with an icemaker, cooktop, microwave and even a dishwasher! I do wish they offered Queen sized beds (although not sure they'd fit!) or an option of a King with a sleeper sofa. Sleeping in 2 doubles was a bit challenging (my husband is quite tall, so I ended up sleeping with my daughter).

Breakfast is free daily (arrive early for best seating) and is well organized, with fresh, plentiful food. This is not like some hotels that allow the food to dwindle and run out as the end of breakfast approaches! There is also a weeknight "happy hour" with food and drinks. Not sure if this is every night, but we were there Tues - Friday and it happened each night of our stay. They also have a great laundry facility, free of charge (including laundry soap) which was so nice since this was the second leg of our trip.

In response to some of the negatives some others have mentioned ... elevators do take a while (we waited as much as 10 minutes), so you just have to plan for that time. There's nothing the hotel can really do to change it and it's a minimal problem in the whole scheme of things. Also, some comments on the location being near the bus terminal, parole board and adult stores. It really doesn't matter ... the plus is that it is so close to Times Square, the Theater District and the subway stops. No matter where you are in a big city, you really shouldn't walk alone, so no different here ...

Terrific place to stay ... we will be back !!

Room Tip: Higher rooms have less street noise and a view ... although you have to account for time to wait for the elevators (during busy times, could be as much as 10 minutes). Lower floors you may be able to take the stairs, but not sure about the noise level.

My husband, daughter(aged 13) and myself stayed at the Staybridge for a week at the beginning of April. We had a 2 bed room on the 28 floor, and contrary to other reviewers, had absolutely no
problems with lifts! Our room was next to a stairwell and was extremely quiet-no noise at all!
We also had no problems getting a table at breakfast, which we found more than adequate.
Front desk and concierge were very helpful.
Must-sees in NYC include walking across Brooklyn bridge (free) Metropolitan museum of art and museum of modern art, stores on 5th Ave (don't miss Saks!),water taxi round Manhatton,9/11 memorial, Rockerfeller at night, Empire during day!

Room Tip: Ask for high floor (not next to elevator) to avoid street noise
