My SO and I loved our stay at Margot Guest House. Our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated, the locatin was great (close to Central Park, close to museums, close to the subway, lots of cool restaurants) and the owner was so very helpful with lots of great advice on things to do in the neighboorhood and in the city in general. Excellent value for the money.

We loved this guest house. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. While we really liked the neighborhood I could understand that some people may find it challenging. Easy access to pretty well everything and some good restaurants nearby. Todd (the owner) is very informative and supplies a lot of information in the room. Make sure you talk to Todd and find out the fascinating things he has done.

Best find in New York City ever. The house is lovely and tastefully decorated (and the price is surprisingly inexpensive for Manhattan), and the owner/innkeeper Todd is fabulous. He is attentive (a good example of this: he knew and made provision for our delayed flight into NY, w/o our telling him of it. Evidently he was keeping track of the flight and when we would land. Prior to our arrival, he also gave us detailed instructions on transportation options from the airport to the house) and loves talking with guests. My husband and I took his advice on which restaurants to check out and things to do in the city, and every piece of advice was spot on. We greatly benefited in his sophisticated taste—everything from the house décor (love those old French doors and the 8-foot windows in our room overlooking the street below) to what scrumptious restaurants to which to go. We also loved the location: Upper East Side meets Spanish Harlem, and only 3 blocks away from Central Park. We did *not* want to leave when it came time to say good-bye. Now that we're back home and posted our vacation pictures on facebook, friends come calling, inquiring about the house. Yes, the house is that pretty, and our stay there and Todd made our vacation a lovely delight.

I stayed in Margor house with my girlfriend for a week at the end of November. We were looking for an affordable but comfartable place to stay. We tend to look for places with character and a personal touch. This is exactly what we found in Margot Guest House. The owner, Todd, was more than helpful even before we arrived, giving us an itinerary including directions and advice on prices for travel from the airport. This level of attention continued throughout our stay. Everytime we bumped into Todd we would chat about restaurants, places we had been and places we should visit. He was more than happy to share all of his experience of the city with us.
The rooms were beautiful, clean and cosy. The location had good access to the subway, and had a lot of nice restarants, plus chemists, grocery stores etc. Central park was a ten minute walk away. The area felt safe, even late at night.
We will definitely stay there if we visit New York again.

I've found my new favorite place to stay in NYC! Large, comfortable room - a self-service studio apartment, really - with microwave, fridge and coffee-maker (saved money eating breakfast in the room), and certainly affordable by NYC standards. It is located in a safe neighborhood with a mix of quality restaurants nearby. I felt like a local. Todd, the owner, is helpful and very friendly, and offered to help as he could when weather problems threatened my travel plans. He makes you feel right at home, and you appreciate the detail and care he has put into fixing the place up. The room is very clean and comfortable. I stayed in the loft room, which is just off the street, so it was noisy, as to be expected in the City, and you hear the subway pass by, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. However, I understand the other rooms are quieter. I will certainly stay here again and recommend it highly for those who don't need the perks of a full-service hotel.
