“Worth a Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2012

If you have a few extra hours to kill on your trip to New York and feel like relaxing, check out Bryant Park. Though not huge, this park epitomizes what it means to be in New York - it packs a lot in a small amount of space. If you're looking to relax, grab a table surrounding the grass and just people watch; if you want some culture, check out the free public book readings or poetry slams. It's definitely worth looking up a schedule of what's going on in the park, because from ping pong, to chess, to knitting classes, to yoga, this park offers a little of something for everything - and the best part is, it's all free.

“Take a break here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

Between Times Square, Fifth Avenue, and the Empire State Building, Bryant Park is a nice place to sit with a coffee or a sandwich and escape the crowded sidewalk. Two or three kiosks offer carry-away sandwiches, as do many local eateries. Tables can be hard to find in the summer, but plenty of steps to sit on.

“A delightful oasis”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

This isn't really a destination, but if you are nearby, it is a delightful oasis in the middle of one of the city's busiest areas. Most of us who live here can remember when this park was a real nothing. The renovation shows what good planning can do for a city. Today, the park is a wonderful place to sit and read and watch the world go by. Also worth knowing about -- even if you aren't going to the park -- there are excellent clean public restrooms. In midtown, these can be nearly as scarce as lawns.
