Found a pretty sweet deal through TravelZoo for a 3 night stay at The Redbury. We had a corner room on the 4th floor, a one class upgrade from the lowest level room. It was nice to have a little extra space for when we chilled in the room. The restaurant makes astounding pizzas. Loved the hotel location, near Empire State building and Eataly.

The Redbury exceeded our expectations and we would absolutely return again, even if our plans take us elsewhere in the city.

Our experience started out wonderfully, with Shelley from the overnight staff helping us with an early checkin post-redeye. She made us feel 100% welcome and well taken care of after a long flight. The room was very clean and updated, well decorated, and welcoming.

The rooms are small, as is standard for NYC, but the renovated rooms are very thoughtfully laid out and furnished (nice toiletries, even with a small beverage fridge for your use). The bathroom (I think it was an accessible room) was surprisingly spacious. The bed was VERY comfortable. Best sleep I've had in NYC. And the rooms were remarkably quiet aside from a little room-to-room bleed; almost no street sounds.

The guest service was very good; responsive when we had minor problems or requests. And they were extremely flexible and accomodating with the major issues we encountered: we had to extend twice due to a snowstorm.

Location is good, walkable to many major neighborhoods with a pair of good shoes, and not too far from subway options. Several dining options nearby, and Marta in the lobby was quite good (menu looks pricey, but all gratuities are included.) Decor is lovely.

My main complaints would be that (1) AT&T cell phone service was nonexistent in our room on the 6th floor and (2) the Wi-Fi, while passably fast, is completely insecured which is a security risk. If you don't have a VPN, be careful about conducting any business on the hotel wi-fi. For leisure travelers (or perhaps folks on different cell networks) these won't be dealbreakers, and even for us we decided to stay because we were so comfortable.

Thanks to the staff at the Redbury for taking good care of us!

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the lobby might have better cell service

The NoMad area of New York is being flooded by new Holiday Inn Expresses, Hilton Garden Inns and the like, so it's great to see a new boutique hotel in the old bones of the old Hotel Martha Washington. The hotel is definitely going for a young, hip crowd and decor, lighting, and music throughout the public spaces demonstrates that. This is not a sedate, upper east side hotel. The rooms are small and furnished minimally, but the mattresses are very good and that's what counts most. The lobby restaurant and bar are terrific places to hang out. The restaurant definitely requires reservations so book in advance.

Room Tip: Go for the largest standard room possible.

Hi Bob! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us while in New York. The atmosphere of The Redbury is fun and upbeat and we are glad you appreciated this. Our beds are indeed very comfortable and ensure good night's sleep after a long day running around the city. Marta is wildly popular but we are able to ensure our guests our accommodated and the concierge can always assist in booking a reservation. We look forward to having you back with us soon.
Best,

I stayed at The Redbury in New York City, for 5 nights in February of 2017.
The staff was always friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable, the room was nice and clean, and the location was ideal for seeing NYC.
I would definitely stay there again!

In NYC for business, this was my first stay at Redbury. I loved it!
Cool vibe, comfy bed and great location - easy to get anywhere you need to go in the city. The restaurant, Marta, is excellent go for the Carbonara pizza it's amazing. Overall great stay I would definitely recommend.
