Know what to expect and you'll be fine. Great location (direct bus from JFK to Grand Central, then 10 min walk), small clean noisy rooms, shared clean (very clean) baths. Semi-helpful staff. It's not a real hotel. Affordable and excellent for a few days.

This was my second stay at this property (December 2010 and December 2011). Please note this is an ceconomic hoel and not an hostel. The highlights are a large indoor swimming pool, a large gym and a yoga/karate space. The hotel is also located in an amazing spot if u are interested exploring central Station area.
The rooms are very tiny and noisy. Partitions are very thin and toilets are shared.
The wi-fi didn't work for all the 3 nights I've been in, and the hotel management put out an advise on this only after days. I had to leave 5 dollars for the luggage room service.
The hotel staff is professional but absolutely not interested into clients.
The hotel seems very safe.
Choose this hotel only if interested into sports.

Chose this place to stay due to the location and cheap price. The location is good with walking access to the Metro (ard 8 to 10 mins walk), United Nations, Times Square etc, Other than that, the room as highlighted by most is ultra small. I took a single room and all it had was a single bed, a table with no chairs, a small fridge that smells, towels and linen. The showers and toilets are limited at each floor. The Wifi connection is bad. I saw people sitting on the floor, outside the lift along the corridor every night just to have a better connection. And lastly, the staff (at least majority) aint friendly. Would only recommend to those with a tight budget and in need of a place to just wash up and sleep.

We came to town just for two nights at the start of our spring break and it was a fine place to crash. The beds were well worn making them a little uncomfortable, and the heater and/or pipes were loud at different times throughout the night. However, the room was clean and if you want to you are able to use the huge gym downstairs, and its not far from grand central station and central park and restaurants and other tourist destinations. For NYC it is cheap so if you are looking for a cheap place to store your things while you explore the city this is your place!

The location of this site is GREAT Handy to get to and from with the Buses from all Airports coming to 41st 42 st park ave just a ten min walk away, and with plenty of places to eat and drink in the area including Grand Central, The Hostel needs a makeover and a couple of floors with Kitchen Units or Microwaves available for every one to use, The rooms need a good paint job and some a good steam job, lack of pillows is a problem, but plenty of Towels are made available. the washrooms are kept in clean condition along with the toilets but the landings could do with a clean,
now there are 2 pools you can use along with the high quality Gym but you are not advised about them so a poster or leaflet in your room would be good, and there is also a trip desk where you can get tickets for many things, all in all its not bad for the price or location but the price as risen over the years, but not the quality of the accommodation along with it
