I have travelled for 25 years to New York - mainly on business trips but also for holidays on half a dozen occasions. Due to proximity to the music corporation my label had a deal with I used to stay at the Four Seasons uptown on 57th St. They give fabulous service , decent menu and wine list - all you would expect from the Four Seasons. So - no reason to change ? Well that's right - until a friend insisted I try out The Mercer on the corner of Mercer and Prince in downtown SoHo. A completely different universe of brilliance to be honest. Full of character, a genuinely top class restaurant in the basement the shape of the Mercer Kitchen - and for those who like shopping and art galleries you only have to spill out onto the street outside and head in any direction to sate your desires. I am eternally grateful to the friend who recommended The Mercer - it has been my default hotel in NYC for fifteen years now , and last weekend's visit showed that they have maintained their exceptional standards.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are noticeably quiet. Try one of the loft rooms

Sorry for the delay in review. Stayed here in mid- December with our 3 teenage children. The rooms are very clean, bright and quiet. Perfect location in Soho. There are great mini bars, beautiful bathrooms and love the amenities. Booked through the hotel and Peter in reservations was very helpful in making sure we reserved the perfect rooms for our family of 5. There is a small but cozy lounge attached to The Mercer Kitchen, for guests and celebs, we hung out there everyday wonderful after a day in the cold city. Food is delicious and service top notch. 24 hour room service was also appreciated. Finally, the coceirge Kern was pivotal in making our trip truly memorable. One night a broadway show, the next a jazz concert and reservations at amazing restaurants. Can't wait to visit The Mercer again!

Attached to the restaurant is Mercer Kitchen which serves an excellent breakfast. The lobby/bar is great for people-watching and you never know who you will see.
This hotel is one of the trendiest in Soho a great spot for a weekend of shopping. Don’t be surprised if you see a celebrity – or paparazzi outside waiting for one!

Me and my husband visit NYC every december due to a congress my husband has to attend. Since we love SOHO we stayed at the Mercer twice already and it's really the best location you can choose in NYC. Across the street are Moncler, Miu Miu etc.. and down the street on west broadway are all the art galleries, my favorite nail spa and a great hair salon. The design of the hotel is contemporary - which we love. but all the luxury definitely has it's price - the lower category rooms don't even feature king size beds! Another thing you have to be aware of - if you stay in an other hotel where you pay that kind of money they know your name. At the Mercer they don't really pay attention to you unless you're a celebrity. But at least you always meet celebrities at the Mercers' guest-only lobby area... if you're into it ;-))

The Mercer hasn't lost his idiosyncratic soul and its unique Soho's understated charm.
One of the rare place in New York to have maintained its style and standard.

Great staff in every sense, charming and helpful 24/24
Efficient but quite expensive room service.

The room is perfect, soft and refined colors - no noise double windows on Prince street - marble bathroom, fully loaded mini bar and great amenities.
Mercer kitchen, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, is still attracting fashionistas and celebs from everywhere with his delicious food and wine and eating in the lobby is still THE poshest thing to do.

We had a great time
