Inn at the Park is located in a wonderful area of San Diego, directly across the street from Balboa Park. Easy access to restaurants, theatres, public transportation, supermarket (Whole Foods) and only 10 minutes from Downtown, waterfront and Mission Bay. Friendly front desk staff, helpful parking/luggage attendants, laundry room in lower level was very clean, units were updated and in great condition.

The Inn at the Park is a lovely historic hotel in a great location. Lots of stuff close-by, easy freeway access, and plenty to see and do. The staff was amazing during our stay and the room was beautiful and spacious.

From check-in through check-out, every member of the staff was outstanding. They were all friendly and extremely helpful. The historic building has been beautifully restored and decorated. The location was very convenient, with easy access to everywhere in San Diego we wanted to go. My only complaint was the noise associated with a large amount of construction taking place in the area around the hotel.

This property exceeded our expectations on almost every level. It's quiet, centrally located, and rooms are large. However, we found a bobby pin on the carpet and furniture and floors needed a dusting. I cannot understand why so many hotels believe disinfecting rooms makes up for a lack of basic cleaning. A vacuum and mop accomplish things gallons of disinfectant cannot.

We are a Wyndham Vacation owner. This is a Shell Vacation resort but Wyndham and Worldmark owners can use. We chose this hotel as it was close to the San Diego Zoo/Balboa Park. We had 4 adults and 2 young children so we had a studio room (third floor using Wyndham points), and a 2 bedroom on the 5th floor (via Worldmark using points and a fee). Kind of complicated in terms of points, costs and placement of multiple rooms but for those of you who are owners, it will be helpful to know this especially when making reservations.
As to the hotel, it is literally across the street from Balboa Park and a great little playground. It's a 10 minute drive to the zoo (25 minute walk). It is also on a corner that is quite busy with cars, trash trucks and buses. The street traffic was very loud towards evening and throughout evening in our corner unit 2 bedroom. The staff was excellent - all the time and the valet parking ($20 a day, valet only) attendants were extremely helpful and pleasant.
The rooms were spacious and had a large blackout pull down board (vs curtain). The kitchenette was ample (2 burner, no oven) with an apartment size refrigerator. No bathtubs but spacious showers.
There is a rooftop that wraps around and has a nice view (8th floor basically) but other than seeing the view and maybe bringing some of our food up to sit and eat at a table, there is no outdoor service that may be typical in normal times!
Our biggest challenge was the creaking floors as it's an older boutique style building so at night, in the street side unit, we got noise at night from all directions making it hard to sleep.

Room tip: Some have balconies but south side has best balconies. Beware of street noise on units on Fifth Avenue. Nice city views from windows!
