I had business in the La Jolla area and colleagues staying across the street at the full service Marriott. The price was right at the RI, so I decided to stay. I was warmly greeted by Sebastian at check-in and appreciated the upgraded room on a high floor (although not the highest floor and the people above me did make a lot of noise). Overall, I found the property to be in good shape and was able to enjoy a good night sleep despite some of the stomping overhead. The food and drink options at the evening managers receptions were on part with other RI offerings, and breakfast was well stocked.
My only real issue is with housekeeping. There were a number of minor issues that are easily correctable with a little more attention to detail. There was a full drink in the refrigerator from a prior guest. There were pull tabs from soda cans on the end table next to the bed. And there was a dirty sock behind one of the curtains in the bedroom that was only visible once I pulled the curtain back. Beyond that, the televisions were a little on the small side, but I don't really stay in a hotel for the tv!
I would not have an issue staying again.More
