We stopped in for an hour and enjoyed this welcoming State Museum in Old Town. You can only shop in so many of the tourist shops. Stop here to read some facts about historical carriages and western gear. It costs nothing which is unusual. Kids will enjoy this place just past the donkey exhibit.

This huge horse stable building used as horse carriage museum. The exhibits are so interesting for all ages to enjoy how the people in the past came to SanDiego from the East and other areas of US. On the second floor, the exhibitions devoted to Native American Indian handicrafts in this area. Importantly, it's free admission.

At first I didn't think I would enjoy stopping at Steeley stables but I really did enjoy seeing all the different carriages and reading up on some of the history of the place. While I did not stay long, I did stay long enough to enjoy some of the exhibits and take a few pictures.

If you are in Old Town, this is a must see. The stable is filled with historical artifacts and provides insight into the lives of the early inhabitants. The wagons and carriages were impressive. The museum is free.

This is one of the better museums in Old Town. It is also one of the larger ones. They have a great collection of wagons, coaches and a lot of western artifacts. It is spread over two floors. I did not watch it, but they also have a movie presentation. This is definitely a must see if you are in Old Town playing tourist.
