You meet people from other countries and you learn so much about their cultures. People are really nice. It is really interesting.

We visited this area after the Spreckles Organ concert on a Sunday afternoon. All of the cottages were open and most offered "goodies" to eat (small donation). We visited all of them and tried a lot of international desserts. It is like a micro world's fair. The docents were friendly and knowledgeable. We worth spreading the time to visit. Some are open every day, however all were open on a Sunday.

This is a fun place to spend a few hours , learn about different countries and their foods. Each country has a small cottage left from the a World Exposition yard back . The staff at each location. Is eager to share information and display items are interesting . Most have small samples of food for donations. To sample . Each Sunday one country is featured to display in the center lawn . Check the web site for the featured country and other info .

Each cottage is staffed by club members representing the cultures of the nations of the worlds. But they are obviously underfunded and have few assets to properly describe the traditions and cultures represented.

This little community circle of small cottages from the 1915 World Exposition still draws visitors today. Countries represented from all over: China, Germany, France, the U.S., Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Iran...on and on. Every weekend (Sunday at 2) a different country gets to take the central stage area for a presentation (usually song & dance). Look on the Balboa Park app for the country list. Each cottage is open to view, donations taken for little snacks from each region. The cottages are like little museums, full of maps, displays of cultural goodies, photos and great info. Don't miss it.
