I always go into a hotel skeptical, especially an old hotel. But Senate Luxury Suites was delightful! The rooms had all the clean modern luxuries, but with a lovely historic feel. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in walking distance of the Capitol. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone staying in the Topeka area.

If you are looking for a comfortable room that is near the Kansas Capital building, this is your stop. There was a small kitchenette for in room dining if you don't want to go to a restaurant and need to work through the evening. Our room even had a fold out bed, and we are hoping to make a trip with our middle school grandson to allow him to page and see government at work. The breakfast was delicious and the attendant was polite and skilled at keeping the food stocked as diners arrived. I loved the quiet room, quiet breakfast, and balcony that faced the Kansas Capital building. The history of this building is tied to the Santa Fe Railroad and early Topeka. If you like interesting architecture, this is a great choice. It is an event venue, so there may be some more noisy times, but our stay was very calm and peaceful.

smelly, dirty, freaky, run down, and certainly not luxury. the broken concrete walkway up to the front door should have been a clue. Then the awful condition of the front door. Lastly the small of the old carpet throughout. We let at 4 am so we can't comment on the breakfast in the dingy, smelly basement..

Room Tip: bring smelling salts

Family of 4 stayed in one of the suites here. Lots of room and even separate rooms within a suite so the kids could sleep and we were able to watch t.v. Only drawback is the area is not the best. Make sure you are aware of your surroundings when leaving and coming. Otherwise a lovely place with a historic charm.

Stayed at the Senate Luxury Suites the night before the Great American Eclipse, not knowing what to expect. The property is some bit dated, somewhat worn but in no way that took away from a very nice place to stay. Breakfast -- always a hit or miss anywhere breakfast included -- was very good.
