“A real gem in the heart of Boston (Copley Square)”
Reviewed 27 January 2012

I travel for business and pleasure always staying at Marriott hotels and the Courtyard Marriott in Boston’s Copley Square is my favorite. I call it my home away from home. It has a wonderful Boston charm; large clean rooms; excellent service and a front desk team that is exceptional. It’s located near wonderful restaurants, shopping, Prudential convention center and attractions.

Room Tip: Every room is a good room.

I thought I had made a reservation at the Marriott across the street where I have stayed before. However, I am glad for the switch! Courtyard by Marriott was a pleasant surprise: Friendly staff, lovely, quiet and large room. I will stay there again!

We live locally but wanted to spend the weekend in Boston for a show, shopping and dinner. I looked for a very long time to find just the right spot for us. This was perfect.

Price was right in comparison to the hotels in that area. The Lenox is on one of the of the street and the Copley Sq hotel is at the other. The Westin is a half a block away. All the shops and restaurants of the Prudential Center is so close it could be measured in steps from the front door. Morton's steak house is a minute away and all the shopping and dining of Newbury street is a block or so away. We took a cab to the theater district, with tip it was $10 total.

The hotel itself is not "fancy". It is clean and comfortable. Valet parking is available and although the parking garage is RIGHT across the street, you won't save any money parking yourself. It is worth using the valet, who is a very nice guy. The lobby is sparse and not much more than a desk although a room off to the left is great for reading the paper in one of the many chairs and couches or watching the large wall mounted flat screen. There is also a nice spot for breakfast as well. The women behind the desk checking us in and out were really nice. Who ever HR is for this hotel does a fantastic job.

We got off the elevator and our room was 3 footsteps away (it became a joke to count them to our room). We were a bit nervous but never once heard a single noise from the hall or elevator the whole weekend. We opened the door and my 9yr old said "WOW". There is a small entrance area with a good sized bathroom off to he left. No tub but we never use it anyway, shower was very large with tons of hot water. Ceilings are high giving the room a very open feel. We had 2 queen sized beds. There was also a chair and ottoman as well as a desk chair, desk, end table, flat screen wall mounted tv and plenty of place to hang my clothes. There was a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. An area above the mini fridge for coffee.

Room had 2 huge windows, one on either side of the tv. View was poor but we didn't care. There is a club right next door. At 2am it was very very loud outside our room. People honking, drunks screaming. I would highly recommend you ask for a room that does not look out over Exeter street if your there on a friday or saturday night.

Breakfast was good. Eggs to order, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, potatoes, hash, make your own fresh waffles and more. For a hotel buffet it wasn't bad. Had all the basics. Juice and coffee was a bit watered down and the pastries and bread wasn't exactly fresh but the waiter's bright personality made up for it.

Exercise room made us laugh. It is the size of my home closet with a mirror and 2 machines in the basement. Good if you want to get a quick run in on the treadmill but don't expect to much.

I am more than happy with this hotel and won't hesitate to stay here again and again each time we go into Boston over night. Had a great weekend!!!

Room Tip: a room not overlooking Exeter St if there on Friday or Saturday.

If I could give three thumbs up, I would. We booked in advance and paid $119 a night--might have been a special weekend rate. Parking is extra though--$45 a day for valet parking. Our room was spacious with a kingsize bed, a plush reading chair, and a big bay window looking north on Exeter Street with views of classic Boston architecture. It was pretty cold so we booked meals just a block or a couple of blocks away at well-known restaurants; you have your choice of those very close by, as well as a lot of shopping possibilities The staff was very helpful in showing us how to get to an event in another part of the city we were attending and were overall very nice to deal with.

We were planning a vacation car-trip to the Canadian Maritimes and hoped to include a few days in Boston on the return. We wanted to see the July 4th Fireworks show over the Charles River and also view the Chihuly Glass exhibit at the Mus of Fine Arts. The Courtyard by Marriott in Copley Sq, was perfectly located between both venues. Though we booked it for convenience, it turned out to be a charming stay in itself -- right in the middle of Boston. Clean rooms adequately furnished and a nice restaurant for breakfast just inside. The staff couldn't have been nicer with the parking and holding our bags. Reasonably priced, we would definitely stay there again on our next visit and recommend it highly to others especially if you just want to stroll around the city and not do a lot of driving.

Room Tip: Higher floors may have less street noise although we had no real problems.
