I wholeheartedly identify as a hotel loyalty program junkie. I am ALL ABOUT earning the points and member levels for free stays and perks. So when coming to Boston last week, I fully intended to stay at a brand hotel I had been to before and take advantage of a double-points promotion.
Much to my dismay, that hotel was fully booked, and with an anticipated arrival time of just a few hours, I needed a place to stay ASAP. My boyfriend convinced me to try a B&B. (As described above, I'm very "anti-B&B". No points and perks = no patronage from me!) Clarendon Square had one room available, the area was what I wanted, and the price was extremely reasonable. I agreed to stay there just for two nights until I could get into the place I wanted.
Five days later, I had extended my stay and was converted to the B&B scene. I LOVED IT!
No amount of loyalty points could ever equal the personalized service and genuine welcome I felt at this beautiful inn. From the rooftob hot tub to the delicious breakfasts, the "perks" were not lacking, and I still can't believe such incredible accommodations were priced so reasonably. If this type of room decor (marble fireplace, four-poster bed, high ceilings, walk-in shower) was offered at any brand hotel in Boston, you'd be charged $600-$700 per night easily.
Salvador, the Inn's manager, was nothing short of amazing, making himself available for restaurant recommendations and last minute requests at all hours. I really felt as though I was staying in the house of a close friend, even though I had only met him upon my arrival!
So that's the story of my conversion. And I truly cannot wait to return!
