“The one to beat!”

I found The Lion and the Rose after doing a search for Asheville B&Bs. After some comparison shopping I opted for it based on price and location. Don't know that I could have made a better choice! The house is beautiful as is the neighborhood where it is located. It is very close to downtown Asheville, but out of the way enough to be nice and quiet. Jim and Linda are terrific innkeepers. Very nice and incredible cooks. The breakfast was so delicious. Add in the coffee outside the door every morning and the snacks/beverages in the pantry downstairs, and you can't complain about being hungry here. I would seriously consider rescheduling a trip if they don't have a vacancy during my preferred time on future trips to Asheville.

I can't say enough wonderful things about The Lion and the Rose...my friends and I stayed there for a girls weekend away, which also just happened to be during the Montford Festival May 19. Everything from the location, the gardens, and the huge front porch, to our room with the balcony with a view...to owners Linda and Jim and their adorable dog Cedric...were perfect in every way. Very relaxing and low key. And to wake up to find hot coffee waiting for us outside our suite elegantly served on silver tray was icing on the cake not to mention the five star dining eperience awaiting us each morning at breakfast. We plan to come back next year and will be staying at the Lion and the Rose...thank you, Jim and Linda.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Craig-Toms Suite because there were 3 of us and we needed the extra bedroom. We also...

What a perfect and charming B&B!! Everything from the rooms, the landscaping, the breakfast (food and service), the proximity to downtown, and the list goes on, makes The Lion and Rose my only mainstay when I return to Asheville.

My wife and I traveled to Asheville with another couple to visit the annual Herb Festival at the local Farmer's Market. Asheville is such a great city that we decided to stay two nights versus making a day trip of it.

We enjoy staying at B&B's when we travel because each one is different, and it makes traveling a little more special. The Lion and the Rose was given high marks by TripAdvisor so we went ahead and made the reservations and were not disappointed. The other couple we traveled with had been there several years before.

The architecture of the house is very nice with the furnishings fitting the decor. The rooms were excellent. I particularity enjoyed the 8 am coffee at the door before breakfast. Both breakfasts were presented very well and were quite tasty.

The B&B is roughly 1 mile from downtown, but we walked to dinner and site seeing versus trying to find a parking space for our car. Because the weather cooperated on our last night, we were able to enjoy the outside patio while waiting for the Super Moon to unfold with a bottle of wine.

Room Tip: Reserve a room early so you can get a reservation.

rom initial friendly greeting to heart-felt good-bye, the Lion and the Rose was an experience to remember. The accommodations were like taking a step back into time, but with all the convenience of today. We were made to feel at home from the beginning to departure. The breakfasts were original, delicious and presented as if we were royalty. From the beautiful grounds and garden to the comfortable bed, all was remarkable. We will gladly stay at this B&B anytime and recommend it to all.
