Loved the pizza here! We tried two pies, one more traditional with sausage, roasted red pepper, fresh mozzarella and added the San Marzano tomato sauce. The second was topped with roasted brussel sprouts, roasted pears, bacon, pecans, and Gorgonzola. It was drizzled with hot honey and balsamic vinegar. Definitely my favorite of the two. We also sampled four of their brews. This place is unique in that they ferment their pizza dough with a natural bacteria. They also sell their fermentation products to other brewers. Other menu items looked equally as appealing but we wanted to try the pizza. Hope to visit again when we are in Asheville.

I know...you see the title and think, yeah right! Admittedly, I’ve eaten pizza all over the country and had some great and awful. White Labs obviously takes the science of pizza and beer making very seriously. The pizza was doughy and delicious and the sauce was perfect. The kids pizza was fantastic also! We also got the local greens salad and loved it including the dressing! The staff was very attentive and friendly, especially our server, McKenna. The interior was very industrial and cool. All the details were very cool, including the water refills using Erlenmeyer flasks! Can’t wait to go back next time in Asheville!

White Labs is in an accessible location for Asheville, near Downtown and McCormick Field. Parking is great, the space is nice but the pizza was partially burnt and partially undercooked. I ordered the break basket made with their own yeast and slices of toasted sourdough type bread came instead of the rolls I was expecting.

I had the opportunity to tour White Labs and eat in its taproom. The tour was very interesting - learned that White Labs is the largest producer/supplier of yeast products to brewers in the country. They manage over 700 different types of yeast. And they use their own yeast in their pizzas served in the taproom. I really loved the pizza. Friends had told me that they think it is the best in Asheville and I agree. I’ve noticed that some reviews have complained that the crust was burned in the bottom and soggy. I didn’t think that at all - in fact, real wood fired pizza should be a little charred on the bottom and it should be chewy. But then, everybody has a different idea of what pizza should be - this one is more what I would call New York style and it was excellent. They also serve some great sandwiches and the beer selection is fantastic. The servers really know their beer, so it’s fun to talk to them about it. Will be going back.

Great addition to Asheville. Their primary business (White Labs) is to manufacture yeast therefore you can expect excellent pizza from their new kitchen. Order taking and checkout is all electronic. The place is small, so expect a short wait during busy dinner hours. Parking is plentiful in the back. Also really close to downtown area and the ball park. Pricing is reasonable. Only downside - it is very loud!
