Made a reservation to stay one night. Arrived late but desk clerk was very friendly and everything went smoothly. Room was pretty typical with no unpleasant surprises. Liked shower and bathroom setup. Television worked perfectly and bed was quite comfortable. All in all, a pleasant if unremarkable stay.

I brought a student group here, as we were traveling in the area. The rooms were clean, and the ones with king beds were of ample size. Nothing overly fancy, but good. All of the front desk and group reservation personnel we encountered were very pleasant and professional. The breakfast was standard HIE - lots of offers and good quality. The juice was delicious. The hotel itself was quiet, without any hallway or room-to-room noise; the only noise was that of street traffic including an odd number of sirens all night long (if it would bother you, just ask for a room on the other side of the building). There is also a diner out back, although we didn't have a chance to try it.

The only areas of improvement could be softer towels (these were REALLY scratchy), and the pool had so much chlorine it made your eyes burn from just being in the room.

The only odd thing was that as we were checking out, there was an exterminator being dispatched to our rooms for an issue with "small ants" although none of us had seen a single one. Glad we got here BEFORE the poisons were sprayed.

I would definitely stay again.

While I will admit the rooms are fine (nothing like the newer HIE though) I was disappointed and a bit angry that their website clearly states nder "Room Amenities" microwave and fridge. Upon check in I happened to mention this fact since I had stopped by the grocery store on my way in to pick up some items for my stay, and was told in no uncertain terms by what i assume to be the front desk manager (the young man checking me in was quite nice) that there is an additional charge for the use of these because not every room has them. One would have to be brought to my room. I questioned the website and it's validity upon which she attempted to point out that it does say they offer 3 different types of rooms. Well okay...but it doesn't say anywhere that certain amenities are based upon the rooms. After a few rounds of this back and forth she finally relented and had them brought up at no charge. I understand that some hotels charge for things, for instance wifi, but there is always a notation on the site saying there will be a charge. I am a frequent HIE guest, because generally with this chain you always know what you are getting and it's usually very nice and consistent.

The location was excellent for us (a mile from my sister's home over Thanksgiving) and the surrounding area was just fine. This property is exceptionally well maintained. There's a large lobby with two seating areas and a nice breakfast area all well kept, attractive, and surrounding a beautiful fireplace. Also a room with PC and printer near front desk. Check-in was swift (with complimentary water, chocolates, cookies). Our King Leisure room was spacious and very nicely appointed. Bed was very comfortable with extra pillows. Decor was fresh and pleasant. Nice desk, free WiFi, list of TV channels, plenty of lamps (some with dimmer), comfortable easy chair. Housekeeping was magnificent. Room was perfect when we entered. Bathroom was spotless, shower curtain looked new, plenty of thick towels, nice toiletries. Large counter around sink, spacious shower, plenty of hot water, great shower head. Outlets wherever you needed them. Window that opens. Coffee available in breakfast room 24/7. Always someone nice and helpful at the front desk. Plenty of free parking steps from entrance. Two elevators, never a wait. One of our best hotel stays (three nights) ever.

Added bonus was Patriot's Diner open 24/7 just opposite the front entrance on the other side of the parking lot! Beautiful blue/white tiled with tin ceilings. Extensive menu, low prices, generous portions, and very good food. First time in a long time I've ordered a burger medium rare and it was actually cooked that way! And, very good! Friendly staff, too.
