Stopped by and tried the five different wines. Very pleasant, the winemaker, I believe his name was Wayne? was very nice and informative.
Wine tasting is $12. and you keep the glass.

***They do not sell glasses of wine***
You can only do a tasting or buy a bottle.
Tasting room is small but cute, maybe 7 stools total. You can also sit outside which was nice,

It’s no Napa, but he’s not trying to be.
If you like German sweeter wines, this is your place!

Located on the southern outskirts of town, Spanish Valley Vineyard & Winery is not the sort of place you’d expect to find in the desert-like climate of Moab. They specialize in single-vineyard estate-bottled wines. In winery-speak, that means from growing the grapes to bottling the wine, they handle the entire process at this single location. If you’ve visited the large wineries in California or other wine growing region, you’ll know that it is rather unusual.

In fact, very little about the experience at Spanish Valley is like those big wineries. You park in a small gravel lot in front of what looks like a little farmhouse. Rather than a formal tasting room where you stand at the wine bar, here you pull up a chair at the table outside under the big tree. An attendant (usually the winemaker or his apprentice) brings out your glass, pours your sample and sits on a stool while talking about the wine. It’s an informal, relaxed, and enjoyable way to taste wine. And, they’re generous -- we tasted seven wines during our tasting.

The dry, rocky soil around Moab is apparently good for growing grapes for white German varietals like Rieslings, although we also sampled a couple of reds as well. We ended up purchasing three bottles, two Rieslings and one Syrah. NOTE that they do not sell their wine wholesale to distributors or restaurants, nor do they have a wine club. Their only source of revenue is what they sell to visitors to the winery, so be prepared to purchase a bottle or two because Spanish Valley Vineyard & Winery is the sort of family-owned business worth supporting.

Stopped in this place over Labor Day weekend, and were greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly environment. We felt right at home within minutes after arrival. The wine tasting was very informative and they guy there had lots of information about the surrounding area as well.
The wine choices were surprisingly good and actually better than expected for the area.

We also stopped by the Castle Valley winery later the same day For tasting, and were very disappointed with both the service and the selections of wine offered there. The experience at both wineries could not be any more different. Save yourself the trouble and just go to Spanish Valley and spend the rest of your time enjoying other things in the area.

Want an unique, small batch and intimate winery experience? Look no further in Moab. Ran by a single winemaker and his apprentice, you’ll get a great tasting of local German style wines. Tastings are $12 and you cannot buy by the glass (bottles only, but this is Utah law). All of the wine is single estate grown. Please don’t miss the great bottle packing either :) A great haven for someone who appreciates local business, hospitality and small batch, authentic wine.

Enjoyed this wine tasting very much! The owner was very friendly and explained so much about the different wines and their process of wine making. It was very pleasant to sit outside and sample the wines while looking out over the vineyards. A very relaxing way to spend some time in the afternoon!
