Finally I got around to visiting the Famous Molinari Delicatessen on Columbus Ave in North Beach in San Francisco. There deli meats is brand that is sold in most grocery stores now. Ohh the sandwiches are delicious...true great quality sliced deli meats and local fresh baked bread/rolls. Cute store setup with an old fashion turn of the century SF Italian shop look with other staples like olive oil, vinegars, cookies...

It was crazy busy on a Saturday afternoon. The tiny deli was packed with wall to wall folks. Do yourself a favor and grab a pull number right when you step in. We pulled #9 (109) and they were serving # 90.so be patient. You have to wait for your number to be called to make a purchase. That includes ordering a sandwich, ordering sliced meats, and buying any shelf items.

If you order a sandwich....things to know...the sandwich menu is towards the back of the shop. Muscle your way back there through the crowds of already waiting folks. Also grab, with tongs, your choice of sandwich bread from the big ole bread box. Once your number is called out, hand over your bread to the folks over the counter and tell them what sandwich you want. Gotta warm you this place gets packed, standing side by side with the masses and your bread clutched in your hand within sneezing distance from everyone. Next time I'll be prepared and bring my own baggie to safeguard my bread.

They have only 2-3 small bistro tables out front. So plan on taking your food to go.

Order their sandwiches, do it now. Simply the best homemade deli in San Francisco. I am also a fan of their homemade coconut lemon cake. If your business needs a caterer order from them. All of my co-workers were amazed and delighted by their menu items. Mayflower Market and Deli has literally saved my life at work on multiple occasions. I owe them my deepest gratitude.

Yes Molinari's deli sells that sandwiches I grew up on back in Phiha. Not as good as a Phila hoagie but close enough when touring SF and need to get filled up.
