Location was the main reason why we booked this hotel. Near to a lot of places like food, attractions and transit. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here, it was just 3 nights and most of the time, I was out and would only go here to sleep. Very clean and comfortable rooms.

We were lucky enough to arrive the day The Opal oprned as a rebranded Marriott - the lobby was stunning - really tastefully done , our room as you would expect fresh and new, lovely comfy beds and a good bathroom with particularly nice products. The staff were all fabulous ! The area is a little run doen and i didnt find it as close to Union Square as I thought it was but buses were easy to find - despite the major roadworks going on - I would most certainly stsy there again.

Spent a few nights on business trip at the Courtyard Marriot. As a Bonvoy member, my benefits were not offered on presentation of my membership. On request of breakfast which is one of the benefits, it was unavailable although the hotel has an adjoining Mel’s restaurant. The amenities are average, definitely 3 star hotel. Although the deco looks classy, the one of 2 hotel elevators is constantly taken off service for maintenance. Staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable. I took a walk to union square and thought the immediate surroundings look sleazy with more than a dozen homeless people, a bit scary really for visitors.

Lobby renovation complete, it's stunning and elegant, as are the rooms, everything is brand new! Love the convenience of Mel's Kitchen right nextdoor, and a Walgreens just 2 blocks away. We took 38 bus on O'Farrell to Union Square, took only 5 mins, catch it across Van Ness next to the Tesla store - buy a $5 1-Day Pass on the MUNI Mobile App, you get unlimited bus and streetcar rides (no cable car).

The Opal San Francisco is now called Courtyard Marriott Downtown San Francisco Van Ness. Located at 1050 Van Ness in the city of San Francisco. This newly renovated project is a product of different ideas and the expertise of a professional designer; Taking us back to the Victorian Era with that modern twist. It's a "must see".
Very comfortable and inviting ambiance as you walk up the steps to the main level. One of the more uniquely designed hotels in San Francisco. The rooms are great and comfortable. No Breakfast on site. Mel's Kitchen next door offers 10% discount to hotel guests.

Hello Travellerpics,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback about our newly renovated hotel.

Our renovation team did an excellent job indeed, and we are very proud of how it turned out, especially with how the "Victorian Era" feel was maintained.

We are very pleased that your stay was comfortable, and are looking forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to San Francisco.

Sincerely,
