We had an average four nights stay at the Zephyr at the end of March.

Decor: 3.5/5 - fun nautical theme with magnetic dartboards in room, but upkeep and cleanliness were lacking
Room Size: 3/5 - reasonable room size, but very small bathroom
Room Comfort - 3/5 - room felt musty (thankfully, we had a balcony which helped air out the room daily) and our room was often not cleaned until after 2pm
Shower: 2/5 - poor water pressure, poor tub drainage, tight shower, not well ventilated
Amenities: 3.5/5 - no pool, had games room, but not always family friendly (lots of young adults drinking during our stay during spring break)
Location: 4.5/5 - well located for Fisherman Wharf activities, Alcatraz, Big Bus, public transit, near Trader Joes and many eateries
Value: 3/5 - room rate was reasonable for the location, the extra urban fee provided little value; high parking charge, but that is fairly standard in SF

Room Tip: Pick a room with a balcony (to air out musty room)

The only thing I could tell about it is the location. All the the rest are really poor. The room is noisy, people crossing the corridor or the flor above you seem to be inside your room. The amount of dust inside is an absurd, the don’t clean it properly. They charge you a 4 star hotel e delivery you something much worse than a hostel, with all respect to hostels (they are much better than that). There is a Sheraton exactly across the street, don’t stay at zephyr.

This place is at a convenient location, but that's where the convenience ends. The floorplan is messed up - the room numbers go up on one side of the hallway, and down on the other side. It gets very confusing until your kids with math degrees figure it out LOL.

There is no bottled water on the premises after your first night when you've used up the 2 little bottles they leave in the room. The vending machines are never restocked, and the little RV Restaurant in the courtyard is HORRIBLE with zero customer service. Our breakfast burritos were cold in the middle.

The rooms were clean and kitschy but the bathtub hardware is loose and in need of repair. The entire property has some maintenance issues with broken signs and torn up decor.

Bottom line: if you're traveling with kids or any other humans, stop at the grocery store before you arrive and stock up your hotel room.

My daughter and I traveled with 2 teens for our recent trip to San Francisco. We loved all of it! The room was a bit small as others stated but not a problem for 2 women and 2 teenaged girls. A decent sized bathroom with plenty of lighting, two double beds, a fridge, microwave, dart board, backgammon game, bug TV, and desk area. The girls loved the ambience and we loved the view of the bay right between Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. A great way to check the weather right from our room and observe what people were wearing. The game room was perfect for the girls to get some space from us while we spent evenings around fire pits in the courtyard area. Met some wonderful people. The Vintage Travel Trailer that doubled as a food truck, offered a reasonably priced pizza but other items may have been a little pricey. They also had hot dogs (and other foods I can't recall). For convenience, however, how can you complain? They were open early until 9:00PM. Served beer and wine but we utilized the CVS right around the corner for evening snacks and drinks. With the enclosed courtyard with outdoor games, we felt comfortable allowing the girls some space to hangout but they probably enjoyed the fireside evenings as much as we did. From the minute we arrived we appreciated the friendly staff and we even were able to check in early. Noon checkout was a bonus. IHOP was right next door but many other food options within a few blocks - even McDonalds for our picky teen. I really can't say enough about how perfect this location was to the tours, eating, boat tours, and shopping. It was about a $40 Uber ride from the airport. Our room was a bit far from the elevator but that might have been the only downside! I would definately stay here again with my husband, friends, or family. Just remember evenings can be chilly for outside seating!

The theme of this renovated hotel is very fun. The room was clean. The location excellent as it is walking distance to many of the local sites. The game room and courtyard were a hit with our kids. Concierge Michelle receives 5 stars-friendly, great recommendations and tips for navigating the city!
