“Great Stay”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

This location was the perfect place, more then we ussually spend and a lot bigger then we are used to. The attractions were close by and the people at the front desk were too helpful. They would all but put you on the bus or walk you were you needed to go. We had a great time in San Fran. a lot to do and never a dull moment. Go do as much as you can, see as much as you can, LIFE IS WAY TO SHORT!!!!

we stayed at this hotel for 6 nights from 11 feb - the room was warm and spotlessly clean - every thing was working as it should have been from the TV to the coffee maker - the staff were really friendly and helpful and could not be faulted......the location was great 1 block from the cable car turnaround and a couple of blocks from Fishermans Wharf....

Room Tip: make sure your in the main hotel - ask when booking

1. The room had a distinct odor of mildew and there were several places where the wallpaper was peeling off the wall (see attached pictures).

2. The shower tap leaked and the water pressure was very low.

3. The TV was very old and the picture was not clear.

4. The wireless high-speed Internet was anything but high speed. As a professional network engineer, I recognize this as uniformly insufficient capacity for the traffic load - or deliberate bandwidth throttling. It made for very slow business communications with my office and colleagues.

4. The additional parking fee was $45/day. This was not competitive with other hotel and public parking facilities in the immediate region; it was 20 to 60% higher.

5. The parking garage had several places where water was leaking, but the weather was uniformly sunny and clear for the entire stay.

6. I ate in the restaurant for breakfast once. The pancakes were NOT light and fluffy or accompanied by warm syrup - as was advertized. They were small and rubbery, and the syrup was dispensed in cold pre-packaged Smuckers plastic containers. When accompanied with the luke-warm coffee, this represented very poor value for the $21.00 cost; McDonalds does better.

We only stayed for one night at the end of our holiday to Lake Tahoe.

Its a really nice hotel, in a good location and was a great price for us!

We drove down from Tahoe and they allowed us to check in early at 11am, the room was really clean, spacious, large with all the stuff you need in a hotel.

We didnt really see much more of the hotel, we were doing what you should be doing in San Francisco and that is out exploring this amazing city!!!!!

What can I say about this hotel - well nothing good.
We were in the annex across the road, which was badly lit and you had to go through a cafe to get to it. Not a pleasant experience at all. I tried to get us moved but to no avail, the reception staff are abrupt and not interested in any complaints. All the public phones were not working. We travelled with Virgin Holidays and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in when I have booked with Virgin, if you have the unfortunately to be booked in here, if they try to put you in the annex, just refuse to move from the reception and demand a room in the actual hotel, believe me you will thank me for it!

Room Tip: Avoid the annex at all cost
