This hotel has a lot going for it - a great front office and dining room staffs for starters. It's a beautiful, clean, modern hotel straddling China Town, North Beach, and the Financial District. It's an easy walk to Embarcadero Center offices and the Ferry Terminal. Chinatown is 1/2 block the other way. The rooms are modern and updated with good furnishings. It could get 5 stars for that. But the flaws are so glaring that it really ruins the whole experience. The room internet is hit-or-miss, hot water in the showers even off peak (weekdays at 10:30 am) comes and goes, but the elevator situation is the worst I've encountered in the US in years. Waits were routinely 5-15 minutes, but on a busy Saturday morning required roughly 1/2 hour to get to the lobby. The only insight was from a bellman who (with a full cart of luggage on a packed elevator) blamed lazy customers who couldn't walk from the 2nd and 3rd floor public areas for the delay. But on the several occasions of long waits in the lobby, the display suggested that the elevators were all hung up above the 20th floor. There are too many other alternatives -- we suggest you pass this one up.

Room Tip: Elevator challenges would suggest staying in the low floors.

This hotel is conveniently located to China Town and North Beach, and very walkable to both areas. The hotel was clean and staff was friendly. I would recommend this Hilton property to anyone wanting to stay in this area.

For a Hilton, they should care a little more about this property, especially for the gaul to charge top dollar when there are so many other boutique hotels that are actually worth it. The room decor is stuck in 1985 - popcorn ceilings are a nice touch. Room windows have not been washed in at least 10 years (or ever). We literally could not see out of them - gross. The outside looks gray, dark and dingy. Bad ventilation in the rooms - no HVAC in any room aside from an after thought fanbox that barely cools. Avoid the "25" rooms (ours was 1125) - they are in the dark corner of the hotel with small windows and feel like a cave. We asked for a different room which was only moderately better, so we got to experience 2 rooms here. Long wait for elevators. The rooms were at least clean and quiet and the bed OK, but never again will we stay here for the price.

Bang average chain hotel, for which you are paying for the good location in the centre of the city. We weren't expecting any more than this, but were not expecting to be overcharged for an extra night stay that we didn't make or be woken up at 2am on one of our nights because the hotel had given our room to another guest. It took two weeks of phone calls and emails and being passed around an appalling guest correspondence team until I finally got my money back by talking directly to the hotel accounts team.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my wife over a weekend in late August. We arrived late in the evening and check in was fairly quick and painless. Was expecting to be placed in a room with one double bed, but got put in a room with two instead, which I guess was a bonus. The room interior was clean with nice comfortable beds and sheets but the room decor and bathroom were very tired and dated in comparison to other Hilton hotels I have stayed in. The room had a nice view of the Coit Tower, which was unfortunately spoiled due to the the dirty external side of the windows. Another small downfall was the poor air conditioning system in the room, which was temperamental to say the list. Rooms were reasonably well insulated and we could't hear too much external noise from the city, however heard the odd emergency vehicle and occasionally a few larger boats coming into dock. The hotel is in a good location, situated in the financial district and is just about within walking distance of the main hot spots of San Francisco. The maid service was daily and you would expect to receive in a Hilton hotel. Check out was smooth and effortless and wasn't charged for the use of internet despite expecting to have to pay for it, another small bonus. All in all a comfortable clean stay in a pricey average dated hotel. The only reason for a return here would probably be because of its good central location.

Room Tip: City view/Coit Tower view is nice
