The building is amazing and the room was good, otherwise this would have been a zero star review.

At check-in the staff member tried to sell me an upgraded room. I informed her I was an IHG Platinum member and entitled to free upgrades. She then informed me there were no upgraded rooms available. All I could think was “what happened to the room you just tried to sell me for $60”? This has never happened at any other IHG property.

The elevator situation is the most frustrating part of the hotel. There are only 2 elevators and they are small. One is essentially reserved just for people going to the famous Top if the Mark. The wait for he other one is often long. Then, when we wanted to go to the Top of the Mark ourselves we were told we had to stand in line with all the tourists to get up there. There is no benefit to the $400 room if you have to wait 45 minutes to get into the only bar your hotel has to offer. When we complained there was simply no response other than “the bar gets busy”.

Although the location is great and the hotel is a landmark, I would stay across the street at the Fairmont next time. Similar price without all the inconvenience and rude, unhelpful staff.

I’m not sure if it was an off day or what was going on. We drove into the parking area and no one greeted us. There were lots of bags in the driveway. There were lots of people checking in. So maybe just a strange moment in the day. Check in was weak and felt rushed. However, our room was on the 15th floor and had great views. The selection of soap and shampoo smelt nice and added to the wake up shower morning ritual. I did have a moment to speak to Alberto Martinez at the concierge desk. He does an amazing job. Great customer service skills! We like extra pillows in our room and the room service did a great job and bringing us extra pillows to make our comfort even better for our stay. So with all of that I think my impression felt it was at least a four star rating. I have worked in the industry for many years and no there are moments when things are happening that are out of your control.

This hotel is located at the top of Nob Hill and the cable car stops right in front of the hotel so getting around town is pretty convenient. We ate breakfast at the hotel two mornings just because it was more convenient but for two adults the breakfast buffet with coffee and juice cost $80! This is a very old hotel but all rooms have been updated. We were on the ninth floor and had a pretty nice view.

We stayed at this hotel for our wedding in San Francisco. The location can't be beat...it's very chic and fancy. The rooms are pretty basic, but everything is very comfortable and high quality. We enjoyed returning to our hotel every time we were out. On our wedding night, the hotel even sent us strawberries and champagne - a lovely surprise! I would stay here again.

Yes indeed......affording a wonderful nights sleep. Classy hotel, very clean, great service attitude. Just a 10 minute walk to Union Square (pretty steep on the return though !). Tricky to get to in a car, but that's because of the one way system in operation. Enjoyable stay.....my only gripe was having to pay for wifi. Come on guys, this is 2017.....I can get free wifi at a £30 Premier Inn back home.
