Located in the Mission is a gem of a local bakery. There is always a line to get in. It is a casual atomosphere with old wooden floors. There are about 6 tables inside and 4-5 outside. Limited seating. Most people are there to order and leave. All the deserts and breads are freshly made. I would say that as good as the baked goods are, you will pay a premium to purchase. In spite of this, it is always worth a visit and wait in line.

I stopped in and picked up their country loaf of sourdough because I heard it was the best in San Francisco. I was not disappointed, the loaf was huge, crunchy on the outside and baked to perfection.

After our visit it was easy to see why it gets a high rating. The sandwich and baked goods are outstanding.

Stop in in the mornings for pastries like you've never had before! We were so pleasantly surprised at Tartine Bakery. I've owned their cookbook for years and I'm so impressed with their business. Yum city! The bread melts in your mouth!

We munched our way through a morning bun each & shared a bowl of the breakfast brioche pudding with berries it was all delicious. We went on Friday morning about 8:30 & the queue was only 5 or 6 people long. We had to share a table & met an interesting woman from New York who had also read about Tartine. The only disappointment was the coffee which was cold & tasteless. Definitely worth a visit but have your coffee elsewhere.
