This Inn is located at a great area. The rooms are very clean and spacious. We loved our stay expect for two things. First, the place can get extremely noisy at night which can be very disturbing at times. Second, the front desk needs to work more on being polite. We had an issue with an employee who refused to replace one of our cards which stopped working. Other than these two, we would recommend this Inn.

We stayed here 2 nights prior to a cruise and it's close to the marina area and several good restaurants. The room with 2 double beds was ample with lots of floor space to move around and pile luggage.

The only issue was the drapes did not fully cover the windows which made for a noisy and overly bright room.

This was an Awesome Inn. The location was great for walking to numerous places to eat. The room was clean and comfortable. Price was good and they gave free parking. Slightly older inn but I liked the feel of the older place in a city with history Would definitely stay here again!

Chelsea Inn was a very nice hotel. It was right across the street from the Hop-on-Hop-off bus. It was in a good location. The room was very clean. The staff at the desk was nice and very helpful. We would stay there again.

Read all the reviews. I did and so I knew what I was getting. It is an average hotel at best. No frills, a place to lay your head that isn't dangerous or necessarily dirty. Free parking was great for the rental car we had for the outside the city sites. Uber wait was never more than 5 minutes for the inside the city stuff. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, beds were fine. We rented a fridge in our room for $5 a day which was a great money saver. Great bagel shop and pastry shop around the corner on Chestnut. Safeway and Walgreens also very close by. TV was fine, and the wifi was great too. Tons of hot water and water pressure. And the price was averaging $250 a night. These are the pluses.

The location, while convenient, it is absolutely loud. Don't think you won't notice it, or you are a heavy sleeper, it isn't just the road noise. We stayed Wed - Sun and the crowd and drunken pedestrian noise from the local restaurant and bar scene was amazingly loud. Both Friday and Saturday night my whole family, ear plugs included, were awaken in the middle of the night by yelling and fighting. The windows need to be replaced. Our AC didn't work, but it was perfect temperature outside anyway so it wasn't so hot. So the posts where people would turn on their AC to drown out the noise didn't work. I need to point out that this isn't just simple road noise, as I lay awake each night it's as if there is no dampening effect by the windows whatsoever. So anything and everything that takes place outside is audible. We were on the second floor and in the center on the Lombard Street side. Great thing is, kids don't care much. But this is why I can't rate it more than just average. The pluses and minuses equaled out our whole experience so it had to be just average.

It is a Motor Inn, so when you call down to the front desk and ask for additional pillows and blankets for your room, they say, "you bet, come on down to the front desk and we will get you squared away." But again, the staff was friendly and always greeted us with a hello.

There is a great number of restaurants on Chestnut street and plenty of shopping to do. Don't miss the Poki Bowl restaurant right across Fillmore, great food!

The Single King rooms are on the "quiet" side of the hotel, according to the staff. So if you are traveling with kids, maybe think twice about the noise factor.

Room tip: Double rooms are on the street side, if you are able to get a room on the inside.

Dear bored72,

I am impressed with your extensive and detailed writing of your stay at our Inn. You gave a thorough description off all the aspects of the plus and minus and appreciate for commenting on those issues you mentioned in your review.

We are aware of the street noise problems and as you have read in previous reviews it is very common for our location to be affected by this issue. We are changing all our windows in our guest rooms with better insulated double pane windows and hope this will solve some of the noise factor.
Our location is situated in a very busy intersection and with a Country Club Bar with live music from Thursday through Saturday is part of the package you will receive while staying with us. The millennium generation loves to party during the weekend and the bar has many private parties until 2:00AM. The Marina District is populated with all the new Tech people who enjoys their life in San Francisco after working hours. It is understandable for many tourist to be unhappy with the drunken people shouting and behaving erratically around our property in the early mornings on Friday and Saturday night.

Our King rooms are indeed located on several sides of the building and there is more possibilities to obtain a quieter location as for the Two Double Beds they are located on Fillmore or Lombard street but offers a better street view and more free life animation.

Our Front Desk staff cannot leave their desk during their shift, therefore, we ask the guest to come down to pick up any additional amenities.

Once again we thank you for your detailed review and I am sure this will help our future guests.

Best regards,
