Bought a groupon and must say the price is.a bit steep. My 2 year old enjoyed the ride and the quacker. Coolest part was going in the bay and steering. Other than that, it was ok.

I bought two groupons that I recently used on New Years Eve day to Ride the Ducks.

In addition, I bought two more tickets at $30 each to bring along two friends.

We arrived at the duck tour, got on the boat and started the tour. While the guy leading the tour was funny, we spent most of the time riding thru the shopping areas of Union Square, Chinatown and the Ball park. We did not see any great sights, nor did we go more than 500 feet from the dock where we entered the bay…. A mile south of the parking area south of AT and T park! He circled around (literally in circles) for over twenty minutes asking if anyone wanted to drive the boat, and made a comment about the Coast Guard watching them and not allowing them to go past that point. At the time I thought it was rather odd, and was starting to get pretty pissed off that we did not move from that site. After circling for over twenty minutes, he took the boat back on land, and proceeded along the Embarcadero, and the tour ended shortly thereafter.

Being a native San Franciscan, I can do all that myself… going on the water to get a view of the city, I can’t. Needless to say, they did NOT live up to their end of the bargain. I found out a few days later that the previous week they had one of their boats start on fire in McCovey Cove on a tour and the Coast Guard had to come out and rescue the passengers, and that was probably why they were not allowed too far off the pier. Would have been nice to know that BEFORE we spent all that money! We did not come remotely close to getting the tour we paid for.

This was a really good tour to do in San Francisco. We had Captain Fantastic and only one other couple with us on the tour, so it was very personal. We had a great time cruising along the streets of San Francisco and quaking at the population and amazingly, it got even better once we hit the water...with an opportunity to drive the duck in the Bay.

This is a must do, fun and informative tour...don't miss it!!!

We did a duck boat in Portland ME and really loved it. Duck Boat in SF was just okay. Don't expect to get a lot of info on SF, but there is a lot of silly, fun stuff. And the dip into the water is very gimmicky as you don't go anywhere but in a circle. Would have been better if there was a destination such as around AT&T stadium. Tour guide did a good job though trying to make this a fun trip. And it was. Good to do, just not a can't miss.

We went on the special holiday lights motorized cable car tour tonight at 7:00pm. The driver, Skye, was very entertaining and informative. The weather was great which made this a perfect time for the tour. We stopped at the Fairmont for about 10 minutes which is beautifully decorated, and we learned many facts about the city's history that we did not know even though we have been there to visit numerous times. Our 5 & 6 year old kids were a little anxious but I think that is because they were tired, but they enjoyed the music and the ride overall. They did remember some of the information presented along the way. We will ride the ducks again!
