We just returned from our 5th visit to the Bar Harbor Inn and we never get tired of going. We stay in the Oceanfront Lodge which is a little less expensive that the main hotel. The room and balcony have unrestricted views of Frenchmans Bay. It is wonderful to sit there in the morning with coffee and in the evening with a cocktail and enjoy the the spectacular view. The continental breakfast is great - their signature coffee cake is delicious. Lots of fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, hard boiled eggs, etc. The staff is extremely accomodating, the rooms are well appointed and nicely decorated. It is one of favorite places. We love Acadia National Park with is 5 minutes away.

Room Tip: Like I said before - we love the Oceanfront Lodge - big rooms with great views.

We had a wonderful week long vacation at the bar harbor Inn. Our room had a fabulous view of the ocean and was very comfortable. The free breakfast was delicious and the ocean walk is very beautiful, right behind our room. The innkeeper, Fred Link, is so nice and helpful and completed our lovely vacation with his thoughtfullness. Can't wait to go back soon.

Firstly let's address the cost of quality issue. The old adage that "ya' git what ya' pay for" holds true here. The price is higher. You will be happy with what you get. My recommendation is, work extra hard, save up some extra $$$, spend it here and cherish the memories that will last forever (as well as the great photos you'll get!). Just as I was losing faith in the work force of "recreational America", this visit changed my perspective. Seldom (if ever) have I experienced such dedication and attention to detail as I experienced with EVERY SINGLE ONE of the staff here. Every Spring they all come back again. The "newest" employee has been here 6 years. And every one you talk to has the same answer, "it's a great place to work and they're all treated like family". (Hmmmm, remember when it used to be that way all over?) The food is beautifully presented, expertly prepared, happily served and delightfully delicious. The location affords outstanding views, convenient access to downtown shopping, excursions and dining. Access to the oceanside footpath c.1880 and an outstanding continental breakfast, the likes of which I have not seen anywhere. (This place is really good!) Different accommodations do exist, so be made aware. The Main Inn, which provides most of the oceanfront viewing rooms varies quite dramatically from the Newport Building. (Those rooms of which are more dated, but still fairly quiet, clean and very comfortable, at a lower, more affordable cost. A cost which "gets ya' in the game" and avails you to one of the most classy and congenial resorts that I've had the pleasure of staying in for a very, VERY long time). Take a sunset cruise on the Margaret Todd schooner, quiz the waitstaff on their knowledge of local pirate history (they are required to study up and actually get quizzed!) , sway on the oceanfront porch rockers, indulge in the complimentary wi-fi high speed internet service or nicely appointed satellite TV service... (if you absolutely must remain connected)..... and bring along your lobster boat binoculars for a grand stay. The grounds are immaculately landscaped with wonderful, blooming, fragrant plants. P.S. the outdoor hot tub is fenced in along with the pool and is actually padlocked with a chain at "dusk"....so be advised, no late night skinny dipping :-( Enjoy!

The Bar Harbor Inn is a great place to stay in Bar Harbor but mainly go for the food! The lobster bake that they do at their terrace restaurant is amazing! We had been told by other guests that it was the best they had eaten, and they were right! We got the whole Maine experience from this while sitting in a beautiful location in perfect weather. My daughter and granddaughter especially loved it and said it set the tone for their entire Maine trip! Service was amazing and price was reasonable. Would definitely go back!!!

My husband and I spent the last weekend at the Bar Harbor Inn. The service at this Inn was outstanding. The check in was easy. Everyone at the Inn was very helpful and courteous. The restaurant food was excellent. The staff in the restaurant was polite and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The rooms were clean. I highly recommend a visit to the Inn.

Room Tip: I found all the room were quiet. The Inn was filled.
