Definitely will be going back. Excellent Service, reasonable prices and an extensive menu, it’s hard to choose because everything is wonderful.

We've been eating here since the time that Mama Toy ran the restaurant and loved the traditional Thai food. Since she retired, the new management has been offering nouveau Thai selections like sashimi-grade Salmon and lamb with Thai-influenced sauces. They have many specials displayed and they all look delicious, but, we usually come for basic Thai food. On several occasions, they served us complementary soup and they are outstanding! Last time, it was a creamy wild mushroom soup with a touch of coconut. Tonight, it was a pureed wintermelon soup with a hint of smoke. Delicious! We ordered Thai beef salad, calamari with green papaya salad, mahimahi with red curry, spicy chicken with basil and bamboo shoots, pad Thai and sticky rice. That came out to $90 for the three of us. It was good, basic Thai food made for western palates. The atmosphere is nice and the service was very good. Bring your own booze---Foodland is around the corner if you forget. Wish list: Offer a daily soup special and just 1 main dish and appetizer special instead of the current plethora of nouveau dishes and adjust the prices of the basic menu. That way, they can market the nouveau dishes to the upscalers. The rest of us old-timers just want good 'ol Thai food! Plus the amazing soups!

Went to Chao Phya Thai Restaurant to celebrate my sister's birthday. The food is excellent and very delicious! It is located on the Windward side of Oahu, Windward City Shopping Center. When the reservations were made, it was indicated that it is for a brithday celebration. When my sisters and I got there, our table was decorated with "Happy Birthday" balloons That was totally unexpected ... a very pleasant surprise. The wait help are very sweet and helpful.

Went for lunch after hiking. Surprised to see the place was completely empty, they literally turned on the music and ambiance after we sat down, signifying we were first people to come in despite them being open for couple of hours already. We ordered the vegetable spring rolls which were piping hot, but obviously from a packet. Looked like they get the spring rolls from the grocery store next door and fry them up for you. Next we got the papaya salad, which was fine, not bad but not memorable either. For entree we got panang curry. We had a hard time believing it was curry since it was too watery and very bland. The food was unimaginative, bland, and not worth going for. Imagine if I made my first attempt at cooking Thai food and served it to you, that’s basically what this place was like. In retrospect, it’s clear why this place was completely empty. To be fair the staff was very friendly and nice. Would not go again.

The waitress is very friendly. The Chef I think an American person didn't seem to be smiley when we had dinner. In Honolulu everything is expensive and Thai choices a bit limited so it would be decent. In our neck of the wood we have a lot of great Thai restaurant so it is just our perspective. The friend rice and Pad Thai decent as we are vegetarian.
Thanks.
