Closed to bus stop which runs per 1 hr to take you to central terminal. Also closed to airport and Hana drive way. A rental car is recommended if you want to explore more.
The address shown in tripadvisor is totally wrong. It was in Hana hwy not Kihei. When we noticed that we were already in bus to Kihei which took 2more hrs. So double check it with host before departure. The host was in another place at that time so we didn't contact very often.
Generally it was good, but not worth the price.
The condo is in an ugly concrete block style building on the busy Hana Highway and its location looks nothing like the photo used to advertise it. After unloading our luggage the email we received directed us to park in the dirt lot across the street or our car might be towed. The lot is unlit and is really just a clearing next to what looks like a pumping station. The condo is in Kuau Plaza, Paia. This is a message we received from the person renting us the room - "The association at this complex requires vacation renters to have guests fill out a form with personal info for submission. However, the site's policy does not allow me to ask that of guests for security and liability reasons. But, if you are just visiting me, I'm not required to submit any paperwork. So in the rare occasion you encounter anyone who asks, please say you're just visiting." Basically she asked us to lie. As for the room itself, the door had been replaced with a sliding wooden panel and had a flimsy lock on it. There was no AC but there were fans which unfortunately were not enough to offset the heat since the room had no ventilation except for small windows above the bed. Both rooms in the condo had the sliding wooden panels which allowed us to hear our neighbors too clearly. Because it was necessary to leave the windows open, we were awoken around 6 in the morning by all the traffic on the Hana Highway. Needless to say, we left as soon as we could. When I made the reservation I knew it wasn't going to be great but it was only going to be for one night so how bad could it be. But when you're on vacation do you really want to remember one bad night when you don't have to?
Owner is easy to communicate without throughout the stay. Apt is old but very well kept and decorated. Kitchen is equiped well enough if you choose to cook. Location is great if you want to stay on the north side. Right before Road to Hana, walking distance to Mama's fish house and very close to kookipa beach park (has turtles on the beach). Paia is also a great town with good restaurants and cafes
Booked this as a last minute booking and it worked out great. Michella was very helpful and responsive to any questions we had. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend. Location is already on the way for the road to Hana. Beaches and town very close.
