We just returned from Maui for our daughter's wedding and stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort as recommended by our travel agent. The staff was wonderful and very welcoming, we had an issue with the light bulb going out in the bathroom and maintenance was there in 10 minutes to replace. We stayed in the hotel and our room had the ocean view and it was beautiful. There was a storm coming in the hotel was moderating the surf, and they closed the beach but there were people stepping over the ropes to walk the beach and swim, but at their own risk. Our package included breakfast and it was very good and the servers were very friendly. My daughter and I took a class and made jewelry which was fun. The hotel supplies beach towels and the view is amazing. There are 2 trolleys (one is free and one is $3.00 each way) that stops out front of the hotel and takes you into town at different locations. They also have fresh cold water with different fruit at registration and the beach house. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the hotel are quiet and the higher the floor the better the view.

The property and location are great. The grounds are well kept, the staff are friendly and beach views are super. (I would say the beach itsself, though, is somewhat too rough for small children to play in - even some adults who cannot withstand rough surf.)

I chose a Cottage room because I thought it would be more private and serene, but it wasn't.
The walls let sound through so we could hear what our neighbors were saying;
We were on the bottom floor of a 2 story cottage and there must have been a child who is up at 6 am and running back and forth across the room (a lot);
The nearest ice machine is in the hotel building a fair distance away;
The plumbing was funky in that it was difficult to adjust the hot/cold mix because turning the valves gave mixed results (in the shower and basin). Turning on only the cold tap sometimes yielded hot water.
Once, the safe couldn`t be opened, but to their credit someone was there in minutes and the safe was drilled open and replaced. (Apparently there were other rooms with same problem, according to maintenance.)
Comment: I cannot say that all cottages will have the same issues because cottages are undergoing renovation and ours had not yet been renovated and different cottages are constructed differently,
Would I stay there again? Yes, but I would ether choose a hotel room or be more selective of the cottage room (The are several type choices.)

Room Tip: Hotel room or upstairs cottage

The staff at the hotel are very good. We had and issue with the safe in our room and they came over within minutes and took care of it for us. The restaurant and bar are good, quality and prices are comparable to other place in the area. We went to the Luau and had good food and drinks. The entertainment was also very good. The only bad thing was the room. It was clean and the maids did a good job for us. However, our cottage was old and had plumbing issues. The rooms need updating badly.

I recently stayed for three nights, and chose the hotel for its price and proximity to the beach. The beach here is stunning - you won’t find any better.
Hotel itself is fine, and what you would expect from its rating and price. Clean and comfortable rooms that are functional.
Within walking distance to local shops, and easy to organize tours with pick up from the hotel.
I would recommend this hotel if you don’t want to pay too much (compared to other hotels in this area) and want the room as a place to sleep only.

This smaller resort is near the end of North Kaanapali Beach. It's a quiet and great place to stay. Rooms are good size and staff is excellent. Many staff have been at the hotel for 20+ years. The views from the tower are great, situated so you get views of the water, mountains and golf course. Very centrally located, only about 25 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from Lahaina and Kapulua and right next to Kaanapali. There are laundry facilities if needed and a Luau right on site. The resort has 2 small pools, a pool bar, chairs and loungers, a hot tub and a great beach. We spotted whales, dolphins and sea turtles from our balcony daily. Excellent prices, good food, Highly Recommend. It's also on the beach boardwalk if you like to visit other resorts and check out their amenities or just walk along Kaanapali Beach, boardwalk has access to all beaches if you feel like some sand.

Room Tip: Balconies, Large rooms, comfy bedding, trams, Luau, breakfast special, great pork BBQ sliders at happy hour. Helpful staff
