We have stayed at Hololani Resort twice now, and are going again this May. What keeps us coming back is the location, and the layout of the condo. The condo sits right on the beach so you can take a long walk, snorkel or lay out in the sun. The best part is you can hear the waves crashing on the shoreline from the comfort of your room. The condos are perfect for 2 couples. You have full privacy with your own bedroom, bathroom and lanai. Great kitchen to cook your meals or go down to the BBQ grills by the pool and have a cook out. There is also a grocery store right down the road if you need anything. Each condo is decorated a little different but all in all its a great place to stay. Cant wait to go again in May!! :)

We had an end unit on the 2nd floor A204, which was great for 2 couples traveling together because each couple had their own bedroom, TV, own bathroom and balcony. As well, we were able to close off each area for privacy. We enjoyed watching whales and turtles from the main balcony. The pool was a good temperature and we BBQ'd using the BBQ's down by the pool. We had a little visitor "gecko" in our condo, but these little creatures are good for eating insects, so it wasn't a problem for us. Unfortunately the beach has disappeared since our last visit a couple of years ago. There are sandbags along the coastline and a fence keeping visitors away from the beach. We haven't found out if anything else is being done to preserve the beach. We did notice that the same thing has not happened on Kaanapali beach. We walked along the road from Hololani and found a nice public beach not far away. We booked via Paradise Property management who were fabulous throughout the booking and checking in process. A pretty good value as well and we were happy with our vacation here.

Room tip: Check if end unit has a closed in balcony on side; if there's a balcony shade for pm sun. Bldg A end unit experiences road noise.

THE GOOD:
If you’re merely looking for an ocean view and location on the island, enjoy. Amenity wise, this place is a dump.

THE BAD:
Contrary to the photos, there is no beach whatsoever, and construction is underway to save the small grass area and pool.

The unit is very large, but due to the Lanai being closed in, there is no outdoor seating. The glass wall is great, however, there are multiple notices about keeping doors closed at night due to theft. With the unit being ground floor, and the slider and front door closed at night, there is absolutely no air flow. The small louvers in the bedroom are next to useless, but there are ample fans within the unit. The back bedroom away from the ocean side is much cooler, as there is an actual window to open, but the traffic noise is very loud.

The bed linens had holes, the towels were stained, beach chairs rusty, and the dishes were mismatched, greasy, and dirty. The soap and shampoo bottles were watered down as well (maybe why the dishes were greasy). The place did not look like it had been cleaned by housekeeping prior to the last guests.

This is a two bedroom unit, but there is only one assigned parking place in the underground garage. So, if you’re planning to rent with another couple and another car, think twice, as there is no additional parking available.

THE UGLY:
We checked in on a Sunday, and enjoyed the view for one evening. The next morning construction promptly began at 7AM and continued until 5PM. On Tuesday morning, we woke up to construction men peering into our windows, the doors roped off, and a backhoe. We checked with the front desk and they said the construction would be three weeks!

We contacted the A103 property manager Debbie, to address our concerns, as we were not notified of any construction to be going on during our stay. She informed us that they DID know the construction was coming, but did not know exactly when. If we had known this was a possibility, we would have never booked. She advised that the owner was traveling and thus, could do nothing for us. We let her know that we would be leaving the unit as the noise was absolutely unbearable, and every amenity we based booking on was gone. We were forced to spend an entire day trying to find a last minute place with availability. The owner finally agreed to send a refund weeks after we had returned home, but it was less than half of what we paid for the 10 days. Terrible experience, ruined our honeymoon.

Condo A401 through Vacation Internationale was ideal for our family of two adults and three children. The back bedroom had two twin beds, plus two queens in the master BR and living room wallbed. Nicely furnished and renovated.Totally functional and stocked kitchen/washer dryer, nice BBQs by the pool. Lovely ocean breeze so no need for air conditioning while there. Breezy enough that I was able to keep the girls' back room window shut to eliminate morning car noise. Erosion has caused the beach to wash away in front of the resort, but this spot is 5 mins of some of the most beautiful beaches and snorkelling spots: Napili Cove, Kapalua Bay, Honolua Bay, and Nakelele Blowhole further north. There are lots of supplies to borrow in the parking area (styro cooler, beach chairs, boogie boards, floaties, etc). The pool is small but clean and right on the ocean. Perfect for an evening swim. If you are looking for an ideally-located home away from home this is it. If you are looking for a resort to hang out at all day and sip mai-tais from the swim up bar, this is not for you.
We would return here.

Room tip: All rooms have a fab view. A is west-facing, so in the hotter months it could get warm in the afternoon.

Our room was clean. The whole resort was clean. However the descriptions of the property indicate Hololani has a beach which it does not. It's all sandbags. I was also disappointed with the road noise at 5:00 am., having no coffee filters, a clothes washer with a difficult door, a dryer that hooked and melted a shirt. I have a feeling not all units are like this. We may have just picked a condo with a run down washer/dryer. I would come here again knowing beach days will need to be less convenient.

Room tip: Clean easy access to highway.
