Clean rooms, spacious private balconies, shared outdoor space near pool, and friendly staff. Overall a great stay. Seemed spendy but compared to other hotels in the area a great price for what you get.

It is a historical hotel in the town. Can walk everywhere. We had a rental car that we did drive during our stay except from/to airport as we walked everywhere. Hotel is on the waterfront directly in front of the dock for all the boat trips if you want. Nice enclosed courtyard. Nice pool. Some daytime noise from pier construction across the street but manageable and will be done and new. Several grassy parks around. Nice old Hawaiian town experience.
Great location and staff. Decent restaurant. Simple small rooms with nice lanai. Competitive price for Maui. Retro vibe. No elevator. Noisy air conditioner units. Stairs can be a challenge. All units are on second floor. Most water-based ferries and tours depart from harbor across street from hotel.
We spent 6 nights at the Pioneer Inn. Samantha at the front desk was great. She was very attentive and her attitude was very up lifting. Samantha and the pioneer inn guest service is exceptional. Will definitely book here again when on the island for business. Mahalo Samantha.
Great hotel staff, great internal courtyard area, great restaurant. Terrible rooms, at least those facing Front Street (main road thru Lahaina): Road noises (partying) into 10-11pm; extremely loud a/c system (good side is that the a/c does keep room cool); lumpy bed (needs replacing).
The location is perfect as many people mentioned, walking distance to many places, restaurants. Harbor is also in front of the hotel.
The staff is very kind and helpful. Willing to help, especially Samantha.
Parking is free and the lot is in walking distance which is very nice in such a location.
The hotel has a history of 120 years and in a fairly good condition. I love the patios to the front street. However, the room is quite small. It is good for a short stay. To be fair, there is no direct ocean view room.
For families, the hotel provides cribs which helps a lot. If you need 2+ rooms, hotel will try the best to keep the room side by side.
Also as it is 120 years old, there is no elevators in the hotel and all rooms are in the 2nd floor.
Anyway, I will choose this hotel next time without babies.
