We booked through AMA travel for a 10 Day Honeymoon. I will try and add pictures in later I promise.
While we had requested one of the rooms closer to the beach and more recently renovated we arrived at about 2 a.m. so did not argue when security greeting us and took us to a room close to the main road (Kekaa Dr.) and in an older what my husband described as "90's style" suite in building B.
What we found was that we were perfect happy in our suite. It was very spacious, incredibly clean and well maintained. The was well equipped and there was a book previous guests wrote in that we were more than happy to add to after reading all the other stories. While our view from the lanai to the ocean was blocked by another building the garden view was still nice. We also found ourselves less in our room and more on excursions but it was nice to know that no matter what we found ourselves doing during the day we had our massive suite as home base.
We also found being closer to the road was actually quite nice. There was not much noise off the highway as there was a strip mall of shops between us and the highway blocking noise. We were close to the trolley, getting in and out was easy being so close to the road, and it was a quick walk to the shops in the strip mall.
While we were not directly on the beach we were about a 10 minute walk to the beach... and because there was good food everywhere we went we NEEDED to walk to the beach. This was the only place that had the cabana on the beach and it was nice to be able to use. Not just for the bathroom but they also provide lawn chairs and towels. There was also a fridge and a spacious kitchen which was nice to take advantage of on our beach days. We were even offered a ride directly back to our room the one day by one of the staff with a golf cart.
Speaking of staff they were all very responsive and more than helpful our entire stay. For example we were missing out cutting board in the kitchen so we went to front desk and asked for one. They said they would call someone and the staff who brought us a new board just about beat us to our room.
Troy, the concierge, was especially helpful. He called us our first morning to make sure we came down to the lobby for some free breakfast. He gave us a high level tour of the whole island and was very honest with his recommendations of what was worth doing with the time had and what we could probably do without. He also kept in mind we were both quite sick when we first arrives, scheduling the more intense activities for later during our trip and prescribing a beach day right off the start. We booked 6 excursions in total with his help and they were all wonderful (separate reviews for those).
All in all if we ever find ourselves in Maui again we will definitely look to book here again :)

We stayed in the J building towards the end of September and loved it! The J building is one of the closest buildings to the beach cabana. We did rent through Vrbo and had no problems. The studio was fantastic. It was updated, light and airy with a Hawaiian feel. It had all you needed to feel like home.

The kitchen had a keurig to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee any time of the day which was great. There was plenty of cups, dishes, and cooking utensils/ pots/pans. Much better stocked than some of the other condos I have stayed in. I was impressed.

The shower/bathroom area was nice and big. The shower and toilet were separate from the sink area, which I always like. The sink area was big and had a closet that you could hang your clothes in and had extra bedding if needed.

There were two ceiling fans in the living/bedroom area that kept the condo nice and cool. I loved the wood flooring and the updated space. The furniture was well sized for the space so the studio did not feel small and cramped.

Outside on the patio there was also a ceiling fan which felt nice. The grounds were well kept.

Up on the rooftop pool area there were plenty of grills and patio seating.

Beach & Beach Cabana!! LOVED IT! There is a full kitchen with ice machine with plenty of seating. Put your lunch in the fridge until your ready to eat so you don't have to leave the beach! For those of you who do not want to sit up on the deck on the lounge chairs, but want to feel your feet in the sand, they offer beach chairs. Also they provide beach towels at the cabana which was great! Less to carry. The bathrooms were updated and clean. They definitely were convenient to have so you didn't have to go all the way back to your room. The golf cart shuttle was convenient!!!
Oh the water was crystal clear blue. Absolutely beautiful!

I would not hesitate to stay here again. I'm ready to plan another visit!

We have stayed at this resort for many years. One of our family members uses a wheelchair and although there are some steep hills the property is accessible with pathways and the pool has a lift for guests who are not mobile. Check with the property to determine if your unit has enough doorway space for the bathroom if using a wheelchair. Some are too tight, but some are renovated and have wider doorways. Close proximity to the beach (no roads to cross), nice pathways to the beach, shopping and hotels for a drink or dinner. Very walkable and you don't need a car if you stay here. All amenities are within walking distance, or a 5 - 10 minute cab ride. Lots of options for all types of families. Highly recommend it. The resort staff are friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to make your stay memorable.

Room Tip: Rooms that facing the golf course are quieter but watch out for golf balls.

The square footage for the price is wonderful. Property is on the north side of Black Rock. The Staff driven golf carts dropped us at the Sheraton, for the sunset diving ceremony. A must see.
Partial ocean view. We rented the 1 bedroom, and had a full well equipped kitchen and two full bathrooms. There was a Murphy bed in the living room. We did not use it, but sure is a nice touch. The lanai was large and had table and chairs for 4, along with two chase lounges. Flat screen TV's and a stereo.
There is no elevator on property, so you may have to climb stairs, but it is only two stories high.
Golf carts will take you to and from the private beach cabana, and all three pools are in good shape.
We enjoyed our stay, and found it close to everything we needed.

Room Tip: South corner rooms have the best views
