After reading all the reviews I must say that yes, some people were disappointed because they perhaps didn't investigate the condo enough and they surely didn't book with Outrigger Resorts. We have stayed in our family's condo for 28 years, so we know the place well. The property has been well taken care of by Outrigger's Maui Eldorado staff. Sometimes there are private owners who belong to a different rental pool and they don't maintain their condo units as well as most owners do, but from what I have seen, this is unusual. Our unit is one of the nicest ones. The owner travels a great distance three or four times a year to insure its quality is the best.
E202 is a wonderful condo with two queen beds in one bedroom with lovely decor and a tv that is adjacent to the living room and a large dressing area and bath. The bathroom itself is adequate and includes a wonderful shower with an partially open enclosure and bench. This has a pocket door feature to save space. The dressing area has a large closet and sink with a lot of space. There are louvers with coverings to allow for peeks outside. This leads either back into the bedroom or the common area. The kitchen is all fresh and clean with a cool surfboard for decor. More louvered windows in the kitchen and foyer. The living room has modern conveniences and flat screen tv, cd/dvd, etc. Wireless internet, too. Lovely decor again. Across the entire living room and bedroom are extra large doors leading out to the exceptionally large tiled lanai. There are several tables, chairs and a couple of comfy lounge chairs looking out on the fifteen hole of the golf course. Beyond this is the channel and the Sheraton, Ka'anapali Beach and the Black Rock. But, there is a quiet north side called "Airport Beach" only no airport at all. Only the resort's private cabanna where you can get towels and backrests at no charge. There are showers, lounge chairs in front of the cabana, and a place to find shade and a refrigerator to store lunch. Take the cart down to the cabana with all your beach gear or walk from your condo downhill. Take the cart back uphill after your tiring day out playing on the beach!
Afterwards, walk down to the Whalers outdoor shopping mall and enjoy a free hula show while waiting for dinner reservations, or walk down to the Royal Lahaina or the restaurant we like, "Basil Tomatoes". It's so romantic.
We have been to this resort over 25 times and still think this is our favorite place in the world.
Beds are comfy, and grocery shopping is within a few minutes from the condo at the Cannery mall or up in Honokawai. Lahaina and the local Ka'anapali resort have either buses or a trolley that helps you get around. The bus drops or picks up at the Wharf Cinema and shops and at the north end of Lahaina near the other cinema and shops. The ka'anapali trolley picks up and drops off at the Royal Lahaina, Maui Eldorado, Sheraton, the Wahlers Mall, and between the Hyatt and the Mariott Hotels. You can walk if you don't wear heels, ladies. I advise you to rent a car so you will be able to reach all the wonderful sites and beaches on Maui. If you want to enjoy gardens, go up to the Enchanted Gardens. Spend hours there taking photos. There's always something in bloom. Last year they even had roosters walking around. Call first to check on the weather. Then you must also drive to Haleakela and see the rest of Kula. To the north of the condo is Kapalua and a gorgeous snorkeling beach as well as DT Fleming Beach and several hotels too numerous to mention. Tucked away in this area are other beaches and places to rent snorkel equipment. Don't forget the farmer's markets for fresh fruit and veggies for your evening meal out on the lanai!
Moonfish is a wonderful treat to bake and Mahi Mahi , to grill on the grills near the pools. Need a laundry? Most condos have one in them, but there is a laundry below the pool garage facility. We enjoy the pool above the garage when there is no one or few people about. Two other smaller pools exist in quieter spots though. There are a number of tiki type shade umbrellas to keep you cool and tan in the mid day sun.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The maids are terrific and extremely hardworking. One piece of advice...do not cross the golf course to get to the beach as many guests have been hit by a golf ball. Use the path and get there just as easily with less grass on your flip flops. There is a convenience store inside the lobby of the office, as well as a concierge for cruises and other exciting activities. Oh how I wish I were there again!

Room Tip: Choose a partial ocean view or garden view and ask to see the room before you commit.

Aloha cococantada:

Thank you for posting your extensive review of your stay with us. Unit E202, a one bedroom garden view condo, is a particular favorite of many guests. Thank you also for your kind words about my staff; everyone works hard to be sure that all of our guests are comfortable and have a great experience.

We also appreciate all of your tips for Maui visitors. It sounds like you stay busy while you're here; Maui has so much to see and do!

You make a great point about crossing the golf course. And, even if it may safe to cross the golf course at night when there are no golfers, you never know when the sprinklers are going to start! Best to walk or take our shuttle to the cabana or the Kaanapali Trolley to Whaler's Village or other Kaanapali hotels.

Thank you for staying with us - don't wait too long to come back!

A Hui Hou!

Got in February 29 Lanai was getting retiled, repairs took longer than expected which took away from our time, but oh well. Would of rated higher if we didn't lose the lanai for a week. Rented our unit through MauiOwners.com not the El Dorodo so we were pretty much stuck with the unit. Great unit though, great view, great location, lots of newer stuff in unit. Some of the units are getting dated, but a number of units including the one I had are investing some money in their investment. All staff were great Jeffrey, Pam, thanks. Pam is great to book tours through and also makes great sandwiches. Cabanna can be tricky to get a chair, they do that caribean thing though, put towels over the chairs to hold them then show up whenever. Went down early one day so I could be there when it opened to put towels over a couple of chairs for me. Got there 20 minutes before there was supposed to be any towels handed out yet. Imagine my surprize to find ten chairs already taken with towels issued from the Cabanna. (something fishy going on here) Great place though would not hesitate to go back, now that I know a few of the tricks the reguliars pull off. Make sure to buy some groceries at costco when in Kahalui, can get expensive to eat out all the time, but it is Maui. Hope to return soon, mahalo.

Room Tip: Try to view pictures of unit promosed. If renting through the El Dorodo and there is a problem with...

Aloha Kakou:

This reviewer did not stay with us at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado. If she had, I can assure you that she would not have been assigned to a unit that was under construction. Outrigger has staff on site so we can move you to another condo, get clean towels, replace an iron or blender and, in general, be your host here in Maui.

We stayed here for 4 nights for our honeymoon in December. We were a bit worried at first when we pulled up to the room as it looked a bit dodgy from the outside however, we were pleasently surprised when we opened the door.
The room was very spacious, clean and modern looking. It had a fully equipped kitchen, seperate lounge room and bedroom as well as washing facilities.
We booked a partical ocean view room with a lanai. We didn't really have any views except of a pool and frangipani tree.
It is a long walk down to the cabana so I recommend calling reception to take you down their in a golf cart.
The only downsides were that the shower and toilet area were a bit small but managable and the view was a little less than expected.
Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel. The staff and friendly and helpful and you can see why people keep coming back.

Room Tip: I would recommend paying a little extra for the ocean view - its just devine!

Thank you for staying with us on your honeymoon.

We appreciate your taking the time to post your review and to include pictures; thank you! While our studios are certainly large enough for two, the one bedroom condos like the one in which you stayed can make a special occasion even more glorious when you have all of that space in your own apartment.

Will we see you again on your first anniversary? We hope so!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Maui at the Outrigger Eldorado. We were looking for someplace moderately priced for our 7 day stay, and the Eldorado completely blew us away. These are 8 unit/2 story building condos set in the middle of the Kaanapali Golf Course. We booked a Studio Garden View, which is their least expensive room, and were delighted with our accommodations. It looked just like the picture online. It was very spacious, quiet, beautifully decorated, and equipped with a fully loaded kitchen, washer and dryer, and a dining/sitting area. We could just make out the ocean from our lanai, and were steps away from one of their 3 pools. The grounds are meticulously cared for and are filled with gorgeous tropical flowers, trees and bushes.

When we first arrived, we had a problem with our lanai door which was stuck and wouldn’t open. The hotel staff was very efficient and took care of it promptly. Even though it is a condo, they have housekeeping services that come in daily to make the bed, replace towels, tidy the bathroom, and replace coffee if requested.

The Eldorado was perfect for us. We didn’t want a small cramped expensive hotel room. Here we had all the comforts of home, and had breakfast in our condo. We bought groceries at the Safeway in the Lahaina Cannery Mall. This saved a few bucks plus we didn’t have to get up as early to go out to eat. And it was convenient to be able to do a load of wash during our 11 day Hawaii stay. We are not beach enthusiasts, so having a nice comfortable place to stay in between our tourist excursions was great. But if you do like the beach it is still very doable.

The beach and Whalers Village is a ten minute walk from the condo, but they will drive you to the cabana on the beach in one of their golf carts. If you do walk down to the beach during the day, there is a shortcut through the back using the golf paths; just make sure you don’t walk on the golf course itself. This avoids the big hill you need to walk down, and then up on the way back if you go out the front. At night it isn’t advisable, since the golf course is not lighted and the paths are too dark to walk. There is also a trolley that you can catch starting at 10:00AM.

I thought Whalers Village was going to be some small strip mall with a few restaurants. It is a beautiful upscale multilevel mini mall with a Sephora and a Rolex store! It also has an ABC store, which are ubiquitous in Hawaii as you will find out. It also has a food court with some small local vendors that serve great less expensive sandwiches and breakfasts, along with a McDonalds and a Subway. It also has three sit down restaurants located right on the beach. We had a few dinners at Leilani’s and highly recommend it. Make sure you save room for a piece of Hula pie. They are one of a few restaurants that serve it in Hawaii, and it is one of the best desserts you will ever eat!

As far as location, these Eldorado condos are located in a quiet section of Kaanapali, near the Sheraton, Whaler and Royal Lahaina. We liked this location a lot more than the area to the north, which is more congested, and much better than the Kihei area. Kihei in south Maui feels residential with tons of condos, time shares and strip malls. If you didn’t see the palm trees you’d think you were in some mainland city housing complex. In addition, the parking at the Eldorado is one if the least expensive at $7/day, and they do not charge a resort fee.

Be careful with parking in Maui. Honestly, I believe it is a major source of income for the island! If you park in the Whalers Village ramp, make sure you purchase something at one of the stores to get your parking validated, otherwise you’ll be in for a hefty parking fee. Parking is not free in Lahaina either. We parked in the Lahaina Center parking lot on Papalaua St. We purchased inexpensive items at the ABC store there, and they validated our parking. You must purchase items only in the Lahaina Center stores for the parking validation, since other stores in Lahaina do not participate. Then we walked through the shops and restaurants in Lahaina. It’s a great place for some historic walks, food and great shopping. There is a gentleman there who will take pictures of you and your family with his colorful parrots, and don’t miss Ululani’s Shaved Ice.

We booked all of our reservations through Maui Kay at www.mauikay.com. She is located right in Maui, and we highly recommend her. She had great inside information about the island and was terrific to work with. We contacted her mostly by e-mail since there is a 5 hour time difference from NY. Also check out Jon Blum’s site at http://www.mauihawaii.org/ . He also lives in Maui and is a great source of inside info about Maui. They both have free monthly newsletters which helped a great deal in planning our 2 week Hawaiian vacation.

Aloha spitzy135:

Thank you for posting your very comprehensive review of the Kaanapali area and of the Outrigger Maui Eldorado. We're happy to read how much you enjoyed your unit and our grounds.

I'm glad that you were able to take advantage of both our cart service from the lobby to our cabana as well as the Kaanapali Trolley; the trolly helps you avoid paying for parking at Whaler's Village. Or, if you're planning on spending a few dollars, merchants there will validate your parking (even if you just buy two McDonald's meals but especially if you buy a Rolex!).

The kitchen in your condo is definitely a great way to save some money on food as well as having your favorite foods available at your convenience.

We love Kay; she's a great travel agent and, since she lives here, she has a local's perspective on Maui.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We hope to see you again soon.

Stayed at your beautiful facility in February, actually our family rented 4 different units, can't say enough great things about the Maui Eldorado. What fabulous staff !!!! Pam, the events co-ordinator was super, she helped us with golfing, zip line and cruising. Wonderful views and imaculate ground. We had an older but well maintained unit, all 4 that we rented were of varying size and upgrades. We were very fortunate to have wonderful neighbours for our entire stay also. When we return to Maui we would certainly stay there again, location is very central and loved the private cabanas. Would definately recommend the Maui Eldorado.
