We stayed at the St. Regis for two nights on the end of our Kauai vacation. This resort benefits greatly from what is one of the most beautiful views and locations I've ever seen. We had an ocean view room and the view was truly amazing. However, the view does not make up for the lack of service. We waited three hours for our room to be ready upon arrival which was not a big deal because we were a little early. However, when we got to the room nothing had been restocked (coffee, glasses, water, etc) and there were still empty water bottles on the floor from the previous guests. The bathroom had mildew all over the ceiling and around the walls of the tub. Our second day there we had a cockroach in the bathtub. When we went to order a movie, the system didn't work and we were told they would fix it the next day but no one came until we returned to the front desk to ask again. When we went to the bar to grab dessert and a drink we sat there for ten minutes and weren't acknowledged once. Looking around the bar I noticed that everyone's drink was empty or close to it. It was the night of their Luau and the staff seemed stretched extremely thin. Overall this is a property that benefits greatly from its location and seems comfortable to slack in most areas of customer service (valet team was great). Truly a let down for what they charge per night. Hyatt in Poipu was a much better experience.

we stayed here for a week in July 2016. The hotel and the grounds are spectacular. The rooms were clean and lovely. The staff couldn't have been nicer from checkin, to checkout, to needing to make a change to our reservation. I can't recommend the St. Regis highly enough.

There is only one real world that can be used to describe this resort: Paradise. The true beauty one sees upon entering the lobby cannot be captured in a photograph. Every night guests can enjoy this view during the champagne sabering, a tradition executed at every St. Regis around the world.

Breakfast is also served directly across from the stunning mountains, and the brunch is out of this world. Macadamia nut french toast, taro english muffins served with the eggs benedict, and the freshest lychee, dragonfruit and pineapple are just a few examples.

We had the privilege of holding our intimate wedding ceremony on the resort's private beach: Pu'u Poa. Every single staff member rejoiced once they discovered the reason for our stay. We became friends with all of the friendly staff, from the bellboys (Toppi, Greg?) to our servers Mililani and Joel, and the amazing butler service with Salome as our attendant. Everyone treated us like family in a true Aloha tradition.

In terms of service, our wishes were their commands. They accommodated us in a warm and professional manner. When there was confusion with the parking charges, they simply waived the fees for us. They never created an issue for us to deal with and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay.

The St. Regis Princeville is a truly special place for us, where our memories will remain for eternity. We cannot wait to return to this Paradise for our anniversary!

Room Tip: It pays to be an SPG Platinum member- our room was upgraded to a suite, which came equipped with a full Butler Service.

We stayed for five nights at the St. Regis on rewards. This is a luxury hotel on the north shore of Kauai, and pretty far off the beaten path. Plan on at least a 45 minute drive from the Lihue airport.
Everyone on the staff was professional and pleasant. We were impressed that the restaurant and bar staff remembered our names. Service is generally top-notch.
The lobby is expansive and tastefully decorated, and is in excellent condition.
Bedding is extremely comfortable. I loved the super soft sheets!
We ate most meals at the hotel, since there aren’t many other options within walking distance. We spotted a sign for a pizza restaurant down the road, but didn’t try it. Food in the hotel was generally good.
Only valet parking is offered to hotel guests – no self-parking.
A few dings:
The exterior is in dire need of fresh paint. The stucco is stained and dirty, and the iron railings along the bedroom windows are rusted. If you’re at the pool and look back to the hotel, the condition of the paint does not make a five-star impression.
At lunch at the Makana Grill one day, the floor beneath our table was filthy. When I mentioned it to the server, instead of offering to move us (most tables were empty) or calling over someone to sweep up, he basically shrugged it off. Again, not a five-star experience.
On our fourth night, we were moved to a suite that had become available. (My husband is Platinum, and an upgrade to a suite if available is one of the Platinum benefits.) The rep at check in had promised to notify us, but this apparently wasn't noted on our file because we found out about the suite only because we asked. The suite was lovely, but tiles in the bath were broken and should be repaired.
Turn-down service the first three nights in the standard room was very nice. But it never happened in our suite, even though we requested it. Bottled water was regularly replenished in our standard room, it was not included in the suite – we had to request it.
So, a few dings, but if you want a luxury hotel off the beaten path on Kauai, then the St. Regis is your best option.

The St. Regis at Princeville is an amazing resort! The service, the staff, and the amenities are five star all the way! Exceptional food at the restaurant but a little disappointed with the quality of the food ordered through in room dining. The beach and pool were top notch! I highly recommend the resort!

Room Tip: Junior suites come with a butler!
