Depending on weather conditions, this is either outside or inside. Keep in mind that his island is one of the wettest places on Earth. I was fortunate to have a dry night for the event. This is buffet style dining with a show. It's great to hear the story told in the luau.

Due to rain, the luau was held inside the grand ballroom. Everything was wonderful from the organized way people were sent to the buffet to the food and fabulous entertainment! The MC was fabulous and the sound was great. The only thing that was due to inclement weather, it was difficult to find out where we were supposed to go. We were not staying at this hotel.

Sunday February 18. We have been to Hyatt luaus in the past but this one was definitely the worst. I understand there was fear of rain so it had to be held indoors. The Great ballroom resembled a warehouse not a luau. The sound was TERRIBLE!! Not only was there echo from being inside but the sound man should be fired. The almost adequate MC was saying something that might have been informative but barely a word he said could be understood. I complained but told that there were too many people talking. Talking because they couldn't hear what was being said I say. Lots of kids. The food was adequate but not anything better than a second rate motel. The luau was an insult to Hyatt. Our 11th trip to Hawaii and we brought people who were first timers. I was embarrassed to have brought them to this luau. No worry. We will never attend another overpriced Hyatt luau for their lack of respect for their customers.

Our overall experience was great despite very windy conditions and a chill that required jackets or sweaters, which I didn't have. We were worried about rain but it stayed dry. We arrived early to check in. but there was already a long line that moved quickly. We took seats at a table on the side and about halfway back. The couple next to us said they chose the table because they were told it would be the first in line for food. It was. The food, especially the Kailua pork, and drinks were great. My wife had hoped for a pina colada. It wasn't an option. She chose wine instead. The entertainment was outstanding. We were concerned about the fire dancer in the wind, but he performed with no problem. We have been to luaus right on the beach, which we prefer. This one isn't, but I would definitely come back again.

The food and entertainment were amazing. Unfortunately, the luau was held inside because of forecasted rain, although it turned out to be a lovely evening. It is understandable that the location needs to be determined earlier in the day, so NO PROBLEM. There was one major disappointment, and that was, the dessert was put away prior to the end of the entertainment. We were NOT at the last table to be dismissed to go through the dinner buffet, and as we made our way to the buffet we had an opportunity to see all the various offerings. They looked delightful. EVERYONE at our table was still eating dinner when the lights went out and the show began. We all commented how hard it was to see our food. Eventually we got done eating and continued to enjoy the excellent dancing and South Pacific lore. Our server picked up our plates during the show and i specifically asked him if there was silverware by the deserts, to which he replied that there was. However, there was no intermission, the room was completely dark and when the show came to an end, all of the desserts were gone. We were so ready to try them and EVERY SINGLE DESSERT was gone! We paid $112.50 each and feel that the Hyatt could have either had an intermission or walked around with dessert platters. So disappointing.
