We Have been coming to this Bay for 30 years. I would say that this is our favorite place in all the Hawaiian Islands. It's starting to get a little built up in the last few years but mostly behind the Hotel. The Beach is still pretty much the same. Last year the tsunami took out the middle of the Beach and about 13 Coconut Trees but its still beautiful.

We enjoyed sunset walks at Anaehoomalu Bay Beach Park. Free public parking is available. If you're staying in the Waikoloa Resort area, you can walk there using the access road across from the King's Shops. After exploring the island during the day, A-Bay is a good place for an evening stroll with a beautiful sunset and the soothing sounds of the ocean waves.

Take swim shoes if you plan to swim or snorkel as this beach is very rocky. Alot of palms and a pond once used for royalty located here. Beautiful but the rocks were the downside for how we wanted to utilize the beach. Located in beautiful Waikoloa.

Signed up for this half day at the beach at the Ocean Sports desk at the Hilton. This would entitle us to Glass Bottom Boat rides, use of paddle boards, snorkel equipment (from 10am-2pm), etc. However, conditions were very windy (apparently, very common), so no paddle boards. Did do a water aerobics class in the ocean, and went on the glass bottom boat.

It was very close to Waikoloa Village where we were staying, but honestly, this beach is great regardless of where you're staying. It's obviously easiest if you're at the Hilton complex because you could walk there. I like how there are plenty of "quiet" places at this beach so it doesn't feel crowded. We saw lots of turtles just a short walk heading left of the restroom facilities and entrance. The water was beautiful and there was lots of sights to see from the beach. I don't think the snorkeling is very good, but for sunning and interest factors plus seeing turtles, it's great. There are nice restrooms and also food and drink and water sports rentals available.
