The resort is beautiful with sandy beaches, large rooms, good food and great pools. The main things that would bring me back to this resort are beautiful views and beautiful sunsets; plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance; relatively quiet; great places to walk and bike and a moderate size facility. You could stay here for several days without needing a car. However, there are a lot of activities and beaches within a 30 minute drive. You could easily stay a week and just do a sampling of the activities available.

We booked our stay as MVC timeshare owners, we are also Titanium Elite Bonvoy members. We booked an ocean view one bedroom when using our points. The MVC building on this property was clearly wide open during our stay. We were given a 6th floor (highest) room but were put in a room next to elevator and in a corner where our lanais looked right into the building on our right. We could not see the ocean from our living room sofa and chairs. The elevator noise from our bedroom was loud. We are President level MVC owners and don't understand our room asignment. That being said we love the property and grounds and A Bay.
I would give this property a 5 star if the room would have been reasonable. If you are a MVC timeshare owner and stay here, make sure you get the room you deserve.

Room tip: They clearly do not care what room they give you...don't accept something less that what you own.

My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom one bath room for 5 nights. We have stayed at many Marriott timeshares over the years and own weeks and points. This resort is a little different than others because it is connected to a Marriott hotel and so all the facilities are shared. That said, the pools and hot tubs were never crowded and the beach wasn't either. Plus, there were fewer kids running around than at other Marriott timeshare resorts. Not sure if they even have a kids club. The did have outdoor gas grills, a nice outside fire pit, and our unit had 2 small balconies. We also had a large kitchen, but no oven or stovetop. That's because this used to be a hotel, and when Marriott turned it into condo units they couldn't get permission to put in ovens and stoves. At least, that is what we were told. But there is a large 'fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washer and dryer. And you can cook on the grills if you want to eat in. We had a car, so we drove all over and ate at places that were not close by. I can highly recommend the weekly luau. Best one I have ever been to. Open bar helps, haha! Entertainment was classy, food was good and we had a great time. Well worth the money.

If you have Mariott/SPF/Bonvoy elite status, I highly recommend you take your business anywhere but here. I booked through the Bonvoy site, expected the usual great Bonvoy experience, but that was not present here. The staff rudely informed me that none the elite benefits apply to this particular property. So that 4pm checkout- forget about it here, in fact they won’t even offer you any sort of alternative. I have spent a good bit of time on the phone with both Bonvoy and the front desk and the customer service has been reprehensible. While the hotel is nice, the staff have ruined it. Oh and if you love being bombarded with “opportunities for ownership” at this beach club- you should definitely stay here.

Hi there, we are sorry a late check-out was not available for your day of departure. While we would love to always honor all requests, it does depend on availability during your time with us. We hope the rest of your visit was wonderful and we wish you the best on your travels.

Nice location if you want to stay between Kona or Waimea. We usually go south and over to see the volcano national park. Instead we decided to see the ranches and "wetter" side of the island. Two shopping areas, multiple restaurants within walking distance. A small sand beach to watch the sunset. Nicely paved sidewalks to stroll, safe to walk even after dinner. The only drawback was the strong winds. Since we hadn't been here before we didn't know if it was typical weather or just our bad luck. Otherwise a great resort.
