My husband, daughter, son and his wife and I decided to stay at Pukeawe Cottage so we could be close to Volcanoes National Park. We were extremely pleased with our decision. For starters, Joan, the cottage manager, was prompt in her replies to my inquiries about availability and cost. Once we arrived at the cottage, we found that it was exactly as advertised. The rooms were immaculate and the wood ceiling and furniture gave the cottage a very cozy feel. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms and kitchen were well equipped. We enjoyed reading the album with information about the cottage and its surroundings, which the owners provided. The owners also provided Wi-Fi, TV, CD's, DVD's and board games so, if you spend a lot of in the cottage, you'll never be bored. Nature lovers will enjoy the garden and the birds that inhabit it, especially the pheasants.
Pukeawe is around the corner from the Volcano Golf and Country Club and a short drive from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. It is also close to Kilauea Lodge, where we ate dinner one night and breakfast the next morning. I'll definitely stay at Pukeawe again if I get back to the Big Island. If you stay there, you won't be disappointed.More
