“Very Cool/Great Experience”

We ABSOLUTELY loved staying here in the treehouse! It was beautiful, easy to get to, and so uncomplicated.. convenient to the volcano. Felt like a true rainforest experience, tucked away in the woods. Loved the Japanese hot tub, outdoor shower, waking up and opening the double doors in the bedroom. Rustic yet elegant at the same time.. one thing I would say, slightly negative.. is we wished it had been a LITTLE cleaner. I know it's out in the rainforest, but it wouldn't hurt to run a swiffer over the entire floor surface, even a little murphy's oil soap. You have to squeeze through a small hole to get up to the bedroom, you don't want to see a lot of dirt and dust on the floors. But I would still recommend anyone stay in this treehouse for the beautiful and amazing experience!

Aloha ~ Very happy you enjoyed the treehouse and not so happy you encountered any dust on the floor. We recently had a change in prople helping us out, and it sounds like our new person may have overlooked an important detail. Thanks for the heads up.

“Magical!”
Reviewed 6 February 2014 for a stay in January 2014

We love treehouses, but had never stayed in one before. This treehouse is magical and incredibly beautiful. It is very private even though it is in the village of Volcano. You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The bird songs were amazing and we particularly loved the outdoor shower and the hot tub. We found the steep ladder to the bedroom a bit of a challenge and the composting toilet was not our favorite. But all in all, this is a magical place to stay and gave us lots of ideas for building.

Aloha and thanks for taking the time to review. The treehouse is off grid in all the ways there are, so a standard flush toilet is not an option. We hope you did not have difficulties with the compost toilet. It is serviced daily to make sure its operation is trouble free for our guests. The steepness of the ship's ladder also goes with the tiny territory. Hopefully the photos published here show it adequately so it is not a surprise to those who stay with us. Happy you found your stay magical, if a bit challenging. Aloha!

“Cool and Unique place to stay”
Reviewed 16 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

The Treehouse was awesome - a completely unique place to stay. The rental was clean and well-appointed, and the bed was comfy. We had a really relaxing time, and couldn't get over. Not quite as remote as we expected, but that's probably for the better. Probably the best outdoor shower in America. It takes a minimal amount of effort to learn how to use the propane stove and composting toilet that might turn off some, but they weren't an issue at all for my wife or I. I would recommend it to anyone who is mobile enough to navigate to and through the property. If you're looking for a little more than the 'condos, resorts, and golf' face of Hawaii, then you'd be hard pressed to do better.

Aloha ~ Thanks for the tremendous shower endorsement. The off-grid challenges are mostly dealt with by Noe and Rose who service the propane and the composting toilet. It is a different concept to turn human waste into garden soil, and one we think is worth exploring. There in the treehouse, you get to see how that works. It is like being a part of an eco-experiment. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Mahalo for the review.

“So much fun!”

The treehouse was cute and very fun! We loved the very short walk through the rainforest to get to the treehouse. We took many photos before even entering. Everything you need is right there. There is a stove and mini fridge available if you need to cook something up. The bathroom was clean and easy to use. There is a television with dvd available if you want to relax watching a movie or listen to music. Sitting in the hot tub at night, listening to the sounds of the forest was amazing. I had a couple questions and they quickly texted me back which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend the treehouse. The only thing I would suggest is bringing some ear plugs because when it does rain, the rain and drops from the trees onto the roof can be loud for a light sleeper. Don't miss out on this experience!

Aloha! Thanks for giving us a review. Good advice for the light sleepers. Living in the rainforest, we are always happy when it rains at night. We imagine we are being giving the gift of night time rain and daytime sun - always hoping for that arrangement, and used to the sound of rain on the roof. Mahalo!
