My wife & I have been planning our visit to the Big Island for ages, and we wanted to stay somewhere special during our 4 days at HVNP. With Volcano Places' Nohea cottage, we hit the jackpot! A couple's dream, the cottage is a handcrafted wood masterpiece nestled into an upland rain forest. Recently built, all its amenities are cutting edge, but you still have the feeling that you're in a cabin, deep in the forest & lost in time. A lovely, lovely setting. The owner/manager is very personable, helpful & knowledgeable. We've traveled a bit in our time, and we believe this accommodation may be the finest we've ever experienced. And the surprisingly reasonable rates make this choice a great value as well. We will be returning....

Room Tip: Volcano Places manages other fine properties in the Volcano Village area, but book Nohea if you can...

Stayed 3 nites at Kate's Volcano Cottage, just outside of Volcano Nat'l Park. This is a charming studio style unit perfect for a couple. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well furnished. Kathryn was an excellent host. 5 stars from us.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Bungalow. We were very happy with our experience here. The cottage was clean and cozy and had everything we needed. We appreciated the heated mattress pads and the heaters in the cottage. The living room has a selection of books, maps, and DVD's, and the wireless internet works. It rained both nights but we were warm and comfortable. The location is perfect for visiting the volcanoes and close enough to drive to the park for night viewing. Kathryn was very helpful with information about the park and the weather. I recommend on buying groceries in Hilo or Kona before coming to Volcano, since the selections and prices are better in the larger towns. If we ever come to Volcano again we would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Nohea for 2 nights in early February. I loved it! I wish we would have planned on spending more time there! First off, the cottage is spectacular. The craftsmanship is amazing. The pictures on line do not do it justice. It is so comfy tucked into the fern forest. Equipped with everything you could need. Kathryn was such a treat. She could not have been more friendly and helpful. We met her husband Kenneth (his skill and carpentry built Nohea). What an interesting couple! I told my husband when we pulled away that I would love to have them as friends. Highly, highly recommend this little piece of paradise.

Two are studio cottages, each with a private bathroom; one is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage. They are homes-away-from-home, with very well-equipped kitchens, stocked with hot and cold cereals, granolas, regular and decaf coffees, green, black, and herbal teas, and condiments (salt and pepper in grinders, extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, sugar, stevia, and CoffeeMate), comfortably furnished, with books and maps about the Park and this island, WiFi, and cable TV. We, the owners, live on or very near the cottages' properties; guests are greeted after they check in but are given privacy during their stays. Each cottage has its own free parking spot.
