“Amazing!!”
Reviewed 1 April 2018 for a stay in March 2018

This home is absolutely amazing! Stayed here as the first part of our Hawaii vacation. Was perfect to relax on the lava rock cliffs watching and listening to the waves crash on shore. Perfect for relaxation. Close to Hilo and volcano national park. Would stay here again and again! House was wonderful and easy to get to. Excellent directions. Flawless! Thanks!

“Awesome location - but better without the rust and mold.”

This was an awesome location overlooking the ocean, and listening to the waves at night. It was very quiet and peaceful - a restful place to get re-energized. The layout of the house was perfect for our family, and provided the privacy we all needed at times during our busy vacation. However, I recommend these things for the housekeeper: linens, bedding and towels smelt musty and dirty - we had to wash all the linens before sleeping in it, and wash the towels as well. So please put fresh linens and towels the day before your guests arrive. All the knives in the kitchen were rusty - please replace them. There was a burnt pot we found in the cupboard that we tried to clean because we wanted to use it, but couldn't clean it - pls discard this. Coffee cups in cupboard were found dirty. The drain in the upstairs shower, and the master bathroom sink were slow draining - pls clear drains. The downstairs bathroom door, shower curtain and window were moldy and dirty - please clean. A splash of bleach will eliminate any mold. The metal table and chairs on the balcony were too rusty to use - therefore we couldn't enjoy relaxing on the balcony. The washer doesn't fill up all the way for a full load - was frustrating to use when we had to wash bedding. I would recommend others to stay here, only if housekeeping would clean it better, and the plumbing fixed, as described above. Finally, not a kid-friendly place for young children because the cliff is dangerous. There is a warning sign re the cliff, however, kids do not adhere to signs. Also, not recommended for elderly because of stairs. Mahalo.

“Truly Paradise”
Reviewed 4 November 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed here on the first leg of our honeymoon. The house was perfect. It had everything we needed and a view that could not be beat. The house was clean and wonderfully furnished. Being from FL we were a little concerned about the lack of a/c, but the breeze through the open sliding door on the top floor was amazing and kept us cool through the night.

The only issue we really had was with the alarm. As another reviewer mentioned, there is not way to shut it off. You can temporarily stop the beeping, but after about 12 hrs or so it will start up again. Thankfully for us it never happened at night when we were sleeping.

We sincerely hope we get to come back here in the future during whale season.

Thank you for your very kind words.

The alarm system is an ongoing issue. According to the alarm company, the salt air that close to the ocean just chews up their electronics. At least that's the excuse they use with us for why they have to replace controller boards and sensors and other pieces so often. We're very sorry about that and appreciate your understanding.

Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your perspective, the ocean is public in Hawaii. We cannot legally block it off and prevent people from coming there. And in whale watching season, people do like to look. That does mean that people may walk in front of the property. Hawaii is a paradise that sometimes includes other people.

The lack of rain has meant beautiful weather -- and a drought and low catchment systems. Another curse of paradise.

We will definitely check into the kitchen utensil situation and have that resolved. Thank you for your feedback.
