What a treat! We stayed three nights in the Halawai room and couldn’t be happier. Lee and Svetlana are fantastic, friendly, and informative hosts. In particular, the breakfasts were unbelievable – fresh brewed Kona coffee, delightful baked breads/etc., organic eggs from their own chickens, and a daily bounty of organic fresh fruit from the property.
Our room has a view to the sea. The sunsets were spectacular.
They are a short drive to multiple beaches and have A LOT of beach gear to borrow (snorkels, masks, fins, water shoes, boogie boards, coolers, umbrellas, chairs, et al).
The road up to the property may be a bit hairy at points, but the reward is a magical hillside retreat perfect for unwinding from the daily mainland grind.

My wife and I immensely enjoyed out three nights in the Kohola Suite at the Aloha Guest House. The views are spectacular, the house is extremely neat and orderly with every amenity you could think of or need, and Lee and Svetlana are the examples of hospitality. They go out of their way to make each guest feel like family - if you do not like interacting with your hosts or other guests, this may not be the place for you. Breakfasts (which are amazing) are a social experience with all guests & hosts eating together at 8:00 AM. Lee is great at making recommendations on things to do and see, and definitely knows the area regarding restaurants. The only caveat to this place is the drive up to it - you need to know what you are getting into in advance and plan your vehicle accordingly. Tobacco Road is exactly that, an old tobacco plantation road that really is mostly unpaved and between 1/2-1 mile long and STEEP with lots of deep ruts and potholes. The other two couples there with us obviously get the message as well, as all three of us rolled in in Jeep Wranglers. If you have a bad back, neck, or anything that would be exacerbated by multiple bouncy trips, this is also the unfortunately not the place for you to stay. If you can deal with it - great place with a view that cannot be beat!

Room Tip: Kohola and Halawi room have the best views

It was great to return to the Aloha Guest House for our second visit! We were so pleased to get the Halawi room again, with great views overlooking the ocean at the Place of Refuge. The room is really comfortable, with access to a lanai, a mini-fridge, and floor-to ceiling windows. The property is very quiet.

Lee and Svetlana are such lovely hosts. Staying with them feels like staying with good friends.

We love their Organic farm, which supplied most of the ingredients for the breakfasts. And those breakfasts! Delicious, creative, and sensitive to dietary concerns. Svetlana is a wonderful cook. They have many varieties of exotic fruits growing on the property which appear in the breakfasts in many forms (whole, in juices, in jams...) There are also fresh eggs from their chickens, and delicious coffee.

We also enjoyed meeting other travels over breakfast.

Staying here gives a feeling of being local, rather than a tourist.
Lee and Svetlana made great recommendations for restaurants in the area (Ke-ei cafe, and Rapa Nui were wonderful). Lee also suggested a great local hike.

We love the close access to snorkeling at 2-step (adjacent to the place of refuge). They offer snorkel and beach gear if needed.

The location is a rural country estate, with a partially paved access road. Don't let the road put you off. Allow about 7-10 minutes from the main road, and enjoy the coffee farms and rural scenery.

We will definitely return!

Room Tip: we love the Halawi room for the views and adjacent lanai

Lee and Svetlana were so fantastic. Their place is beautiful, with incredible views, and spacious lanai, and fruit trees all over the property. Svetlana cooked a different amazing breakfast every morning, and each was better than any other breakfasts we had in Hawaii. The view from the Halawai Room is great -- we woke up each morning to a sunrise over the ocean. Be forewarned that the drive up to the property is bumpy (an SUV definitely helps) and takes close to 10 minutes, so you'll want to minimize the number of times you come and go per day. But don't let that deter you! The location is excellent (short drive to Two-Step, Super Js, Captain Cook restaurants and market, etc), and the wonderful hosts provide everything you could need.

Room Tip: The Halawai Room or another with an ocean view will give you an incredible start to the day.

We were here for the second time and would come again. We just love the place, with the wonderful view down to the ocean, the could-not-get-any-better breakfast (fresh organic homemade food), the friendly and helpful hosts Lee and Svetlana.

We can only confirm what the other excellent reviews are describing. Staying at the Aloha Guesthouse is full of Aloha and makes us feel so good and relaxed. Thank you Lee and Svetlana!
