This is a must-stop for anyone that loves Western art. The hillside setting overlooking the National Elk Refuge is just perfect.
I really enjoyed the whole experience.

This is a fun museum because the art is terrific, but if you go to the restaurant and sit for a while, you are very likely to see the some of the dozens of mule deer that live on the hillside of this mountain. One day, as we approached town, above and to the right of the museum, a black wolf stalked a small herd of mule deer. Pretty cool. I have also seen coyote on the hillside.

This museum has an incredible collection of wildlife art. The bronze statues of the Mountain Lion and Moose as you enter are
worth the visit alone.

One of the only museums my husband and I have liked 95% of everything in their collection. The outdoor bronzes scattered outside the museum drew us in, and then we were greeted with galleries and galleries of beautiful 19th and 20th century (and some modern) wildlife art - mostly paintings, but also some incredible miniature and nearly life-size bronzes. They host the largest public collection of works by Carl Rungius, our new favorite wildlife artist, and have a really interesting step-by-step display of how bronzing works down one of the hallways - fascinating. We loved spending an hour and a half one snowy afternoon in the museum, and will definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Jackson.

Pick up a coupon from one of the brochure displays around town and get $2 off the $12 adult admission.
