“Ear splitting volume, aisle security guards were thugs!”

Crystal Grand Music Theater

Owner description: We love live music! Our intimate seating for 2000 allows you to get up close and personal with the stars you love. Due to the setup of our theatre, with seats angling up as you go back and a fantastic mezzanine section, you're set up to see an incredible show no matter where you are. There's not a bad seat in this house! Our spectacular architecture will wow you as you walk in, with beautiful high ceilings and a gorgeous grand staircase that leads you to the mezzanine level of our beloved establishment. The architecture is amazing, but it's the legendary talent on stage and the incredible service from our dedicated staff that will make this theatre your new favorite Wisconsin Dells hotspot. Acts include comics, country stars, oldies favorites, and rock musicians. We've had many legends appear on our stage including REO Speedwagon, Sara Evans, Vince Gill, and Pat Benatar. Built in 1994, The Crystal Grand has become a legendary part of the Dells that is held close to the hearts of not only the owners and employees, but also the people who have been attending our concerts since day one. And for them we are truly grateful.

Saw Bret Michaels. Love Bret, but the volume was too high. I'm a concert junkie of 35+ years and have seen and heard it all but this pushed my limits from the ear-splitting volume. I couldn't tell what song Bret was singing because my ears couldn't sort out the noise. Also, the security guys in the theater aisles were first-class nimrods. One was an old guy and the other a young guy with a beard and mustache. They were in the face of anyone who simply stepped into the aisle to take a picture without someone's head in front of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah...fire codes. These were 10-second jaunts to simply snap a picture. They were obnoxious and were putting their hands on people. Had that been me, I'd have knocked them into next week. Some people were actually filming the security guards because their actions were so aggressive we all expected them to really go off on someone and you'd have a viral nightmare with the videos circulating. Why wouldn't you lead with "nice" rather than grabbing at their cell phones and grabbing arms and shoving people back toward their seats? The venue is great; easy to get drinks, prices were reasonable for a concert, parking is free and plentiful, nice people in the lobby. But the security guys in the aisles were a total joke; c'mon, Crystal Grand; can't you do better than this? The rest of the venue was super nice.

My wife and I were on vacation and had to see the show. As always the ORB did not disappoint. The first half of show was classics and after intermission was Christmas.
The Theater has very comfortable seats and great acoustics. You can carry your food and drinks from lobby to your seat. We sat in DD on aisle and there was room for people to get by without having to get up; try that at a ballgame!
Only issue was the doors were left open. The lights from outside shined through as well as the pungent smell of popcorn. Once the concert starts, shut the doors so ticket holders can fully enjoy.

Our first time visiting this venue even though it's been here forever. The layout in the concert hall provides a great seat no matter where your ticket places you. It is a sloped concrete floor with wide seats, plenty of room between your feet and the chair in front of you for people to pass by without problems. It's awesome to be comfortable and have great audio production. Only 2 downfalls: bathrooms are small and were under staffed & parking can be an issue. If you have to park in the far back of the property, plan on waiting at least 20-30 minutes before you can move to attempt to leave. Still though, it is a very beautiful and awesomely seated facility.

The Crystal Grand is our favorite venue! It's large enough to attract big acts like Styx and Huey Lewis, but small enough so that no one feels too far from the stage. There isn't a bad seat in the house, except the one you don't buy!
My only suggestion is to get there about an hour before the concert, as the smallish lobby gets crowded fast, as do the rest rooms.
The helpful staff always does their best to get the cars out of the parking lot as quickly as possible, and you won't wait nearly as long as you will at larger places.

We like the Crystal Grand Theatre. We've seen a few concerts here over the years. It's about a two-hour drive from our home in Minnesota. We book a nearby hotel, and stay a night or two to have a nice weekend while coming to The Dells specifically for a concert. This time, we saw the rock band Styx. They put on a great show. The concert hall is clean, and has friendly, helpful staff. It was another good experience, and we'll be happy to come here again.
