This place is a great alternative to dropping big bucks in Eagle River. It's in Phelps, and Phelps is laid back and quaint to say the least. The owner Rex starts off by giving you the shirt off his back. What a quality host! The Motel is on a hill with an unbelievably relaxing location. It's right there by mighty North Twin Lake (2800 or so acres). You will come across a few signs in Phelps that say "you are now in Phelps, please set your watches back 20 years". That's about the size of it at the Lakeview and other places nearby. The rooms are dated, but if dated means a comfortable bed in a quiet lazy town, I'm all in !!!!! Kitchenette, small fridge, clean rooms. Sounds about right for us. Rex throws in a great set-up of numerous outdoor seating, grills, fire-pit and wood, and it all has that great view in a deafening quiet. Boat launch right down the road, a nice pier walking distance from the Motel. Oh yeah, people actually say "good morning", or "good afternoon" when you stroll past them. You can tell the difference in culture in this tiny town. There are a few places to eat in Phelps, so you go ahead and decide. We sampled them all, and we will simply go with The Great Escape just down the road. We will be back for sure to visit the Lakeview, Rex, and the quiet. Kyle & Terri---Milwaukee

I stayed here for the first time over Memorial Day weekend and was really happy. The rooms are clean and come with a kitchenette plus there are a bunch of Weber grills outside. We went up there for a quick fishing trip and it was really all we could ask for. The owners seem very nice and they’ve taken good care of the place. The best part is a spectacular view of North Twin Lake and the nice selection of chairs to enjoy the spectacular view from the hill.

My only complaint is there’s no silverware or plates/cups to use so make sure to bring your own. Other than that, the Lakeview Motel certainly gets my recommendation.
