We have eaten at Campo Di Bella a few times now. My partner is quite taken with the place. The food is always fresh and well-prepared at this "farm to table" family restaurant. The owner announces each course and tells about how it came to be. She is BIG on community based agriculture, which is a good thing. If they haven't picked it there on their own farm then it comes from the farm right down the road...

There are 2 main community tables--one seating 10 people, and the other seating 20 people. At our last dinner we got to socialize with another couple whom we quite enjoyed. It was fun being served four courses, listening to how that course was prepared, and meeting and talking to other hungry diners.

For me, the negative points are these: (1) Conversations in the dining room tend to get to be somewhat LOUD, so if you are looking for a quiet evening alone with your honey then this ain't the place; (2) the portions tend to be on the small side, so if you are an "all you can eat" buffet kind of guy, then at the end of the evening you might go away hungry; (3) they bill themselves as a "no tipping" establishment, but when it comes time to pay your bill there is an 18% "service charge" added to the total bill. So if you have a bottle of wine in addition to the $55 a plate cost, things could add up quickly. We dropped about $200 for the 2 of us at our last meal. Be forewarned!

Dear RealHungryMan,

Thank you for joining us and supporting our family business. We are glad that you and your partner have had good experiences at our winery.

Saturday evenings are meant to be a festive, fun and communal dinning event for our farm to table dinners and do get a bit loud when our customers are enjoying themselves. If you are looking for that quiet evening alone with your significant other please consider joining us on Friday evenings when we offer our more intimate Cenetta dinners where customers are seated at their own table in a more private and quiet setting. We are open most every Friday evening.

You are absolutely right. We are not a buffet type restaurant but offer more manageable and healthy portion sizes during our farm to table dinners so you don’t talk away feeling bloated and stuffed but hopefully more happy and content with a well prepared local meal. We typically offer a five course dining experience for $55 on most Saturdays with many locally grown, heritage and organic hand-harvested products. Also, all meals are prepared from scratch.

We have switched to a service charge instead of tip based system at our restaurant to more fairly compensate all our employees with a higher wage for all. At 18% this would be equivalent or even below average current day standard tipping.

Please consider joining us on a Friday night for a more casual quiet dining experience. We look forward to seeing you and your partner at our Winery and Farm to Table restaurant soon.

Sincerely,
Mary Ann Bellazzini

Just had our second farm to table dining experience at Campo di Bella. Last night it was all about zucchini and vegetables. An amazing dining experience for both vegetarians and meat eaters. This place is fantastic...and I am a very tough critic. You have got to try this place.

Who knew that tucked away in the rolling hills just outside of Mount Horeb awaited one of the most spectacular meals I've ever had?? I met Mary Ann at an event at our local library in Middleton months ago--her passion for what she, husband Marc, and her sons do (as well as her bubbly fun personality) immediately drew me in and I signed up for a dinner at their gorgeous farm shortly after.
From the moment you arrive you are welcomed as if you're one of the family! Make sure to try the wine they produce, it's amazing! The multi-course dinner was obviously made with love (thx Chef Marc!) and every single bite was spectacular! We so appreciated the lovely presentation, stories of family and their journey with the farm, and a meal that celebrates mouth watering vegetables (we are both vegetarian) grown sustainably!
This is an experience that is not to be missed--can't wait to return!

Campo di Bella is my new favorite "special dinner" destination in the greater Madison area. Nestled in the beautiful country side of Mount Horeb with rolling hills, and dramatic sunsets, lives this lovely farmette and restaurant for a true farm to table experience. The owners, Mary Ann and Marc, not only own this lovely restaurant, they are the chefs and residents on this farmette. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent there. From sitting on the terraced patio with pre-dinner wine to the fantastic 5 course meal. The entire meal featured produce from local CSA, Vermont Valley Farm. The starter was beet salad, to zucchini & Gruyère cheese tart, to the delicious main course, Ratatouille, followed by a stunning cheese platter featuring one of my favorites, hooks cheese. After that we were offered a personal tour of their picturesque farm. Once we got back, a delicious ice cream with a reduced balsamic & apricot sauce was waiting for us. Such a wonderful evening and I can't wait to visit again!

We first heard of this farm dinner in a Milwaukee Journal review that was very positive, so we decided to venture out from Waukesha County on a road trip to try this out. I can count on one hand the times I have submitted a review, but Campo di Bella more than inspired me to write this review. Great small farm environment that was educational and inspiring. The owners family and their small growing winery and local farm inspired menu was just outstanding! Their menu changes often but our 5 course meal started with a good beet and vegetable starter dish, and anyone that can make beets taste good has to be great chef (I do not like beets!). The zucchini and squash quiche / pie with a local cheese was one of the best dishes I have ever had, one of those memorable dishes that had everyone at the tables just raving about the taste. All you could hear were ooohs and aaahs when everyone was getting their first taste. The main course of pork that followed, wood smoked for many hours served with a balsamic oil & farm herbs, was hands down the best pork dish I have ever had and would also make my all time top 10 dish. Course 4 was local cheeses & apples with some pecans, followed with dessert of homemade peach ice cream topped with honey. Just an amazing dinner, with some very good wine from the owners winery. The wines are a red blend using Wisconsin grapes, and while Wisconsin will never challenge Napa or Oregon Pinot Noirs, the wines were good enough for us to take home a few extra bottles. MaryAnn the owner makes a great host and in the small environment tells quite entertaining short stories about the local harvest. Her short presentations on each course made for a very comfortable and fun environment. Well worth the drive from Milwaukee, Madison, or for that matter anywhere in Southern Wisconsin. Thanks for such a great family evening. We will be back again!
