Description: It was 1974 when our country had its first gas crisis. The price of gasoline was skyrocketing, gas stations were closing nationwide, and carmakers began exploring how to develop cars that got better mileage. But for George "Jig" Warren III and Gary "Moe" Meszaros, it wasn't about better mileage or for that matter even obeying the new 55 M.P.H speed limit. It was about finding a home to preserve the culture of those old gas stations and high-powered muscle cars. So was born Quaker Steak & Lube(R), a "Cook Your Own Steak" restaurant that gave old muscle cars a permanent home, which included a 1936 Chevrolet, frozen in time on the original hydraulic grease rack. It is from these beginnings that the Quaker Steak & Lube(R) family of restaurants began. Today, "The Lube(R)" serves over 80 million wings annually, has bottled sauces for retail sale, has won the title of "Best Wings USA," and has hundreds of local, national, and international awards for their sauce recipes. Over 60 locations throughout the United States and Canada, "The Lube(R)" is still rescuing muscle cars, vintage cars, trucks and a vast selection of custom and antique motorcycles, giving them good homes hanging from the walls and ceilings in each restaurant.

I came here with family. This place is great. So much stuff to look at on the walls and the food is so good! The employees are nice and very helpful!

Been eating their wings for years but never did a review until now. Their wings are great. Always have been. Their attention to detail is appreciated, particularly when ordering food gluten free. They do have a dedicated fryer so you can feel free to enjoy the wings. Just let the server know when ordering. We usually have the classic bbq sauce. Mustang chicken is also a good choice, though not gluten free.

Seen from road way as we were passing by. And I was hungry! I had lube burger and a beer...pretty good above average burger in my opinion. Friend had pork tacos and a mixed drink. Tacos we disappointing...very little flavor. Mixed drink was a little flat also. We were 2 of 5 customers in the part of restaurant we sat at. Service was friendly and timely. Looks like it could be a fun but busy place in prime time.

I love Quaker Steak in general, so we always eat here when we visit Madison. But every time we do, and this time was no different, the service is lethargic. All the food was good - pretzel and cheese appetizer, cheeseburger, BBQ wings, salad with chicken and berries, quesadilla...but don't order the Birthday cake shake. It had huge chunks of ice in it. It wasn't even drinkable. We would have told our server, but we hardly ever saw her.

If you enjoy cars, this is a must visit in Middleton. Wonderfully decorated with a classic car theme. Large outdoor bar for a beer gardern feel. Our food was very good and large portions. Servers could have been more friendly, but it is worth a visit.
