I love the hipster vibe of this cafe. It is easy to miss on 4th street because there isn't any huge or lit signage. Although it appears to be a coffee house, they do serve alcohol, but the menu is not extensive. The beers are craft beers. There is music in the evening. They do NOT accept credit/debit cards. There is an ATM machine on site. The BEST reason to visit the Root Note is the crepes. They serve both savory and sweet crepes. I prefer the savory version and ordered the Cremlin. It is a crepe with sautéed cremini mushrooms and red onion with fresh spinach, white cheddar cheese and thyme. It is topped with a fried egg. It is so scrumptious. You won't be disappointed with a visit to The Root Note. We stop each time we visit La Crosse.
